One of the turkey hens died while setting on her eggs. 5 of the 7 eggs she was on had chicks coming. I guess boredom does kill.

Well, that sucks. Hopefully the others have good hatch rates.

The funny part now is one of the two remaining hens who had quit laying, now has four eggs in that nest spot and we are hoping she will set too.

Got home with the International water truck and pulled up by the chick house. Wife was over by the shop so I pulled the air horn chain to startle her and had another effect that was very amusing. Every chick went flying, stumbling or whatever into the house. Wife came over to find out how to do that near dark when she wants them in. LOL

I think my barn is infested with some sort of lice, or other tiny scattering bug. Between flea size, and maybe twice the size of a flea - no smaller for sure. I could see them zipping around on the wood and on the feed bin.
Everything I seen googling seems to say lice.

    Damn, time for chemical warfare.

Kicked the birds outside and sprayed what I could with vetkem and it killed a whole bunch of them.
Checked one bird, not very well, but couldn't see anything on her.

There's still a few running around, not as freaky as it was yesterday.

I don't really know what else they could be. But they were around the wood and really around the feed bin(common insulated fish bin)
Maybe something hopped a ride with the feed? They weren't exactly in the pen with the chickens.
Skunks and rats/mice are also a common nuisance, maybe something from them.
