The recipient of the folder was hoping that it would have had a lanyard hole. As there was no room in the original design to put one in, so I thought I would try to make a new back spacer for him. Luckily I tend to keep scraps of material and had a piece of AEB-L (same as the blade) handy.

I bought some layout fluid the other day and would say that it works pretty well.

The end result didn't turn out too bad.

I started on a flipper design. It's going to be a liner lock with a titanium scale on the lock side and a titanium slab on the other. I had to use a fly cutter on an aluminum plate to true it up.

Drilled and tapped a bunch of holes.

Drilled the pivot and stop pin and roughed out the handle.

It will have an S35VN blade.

I surface ground the last of my fixed blades this weekend, ground one of the large drop points and put a handle on it.

Other than planning on doing a dagger some time this year, I don't think I will be making any more fixed blades as I want to concentrate on folders.

edit to add....I bought a new collet and reamer for doing the pivots.

edit to add...I got a little bit of work done on the first flipper prototype.

edit to add....did a little more work to the knife and changed the blade shape a bit. It's currently on phosphor bronze washers and is pretty smooth, which is nice.

edit to add...I did a little machining tonight.

edit to add....I got the knife together today and it feels pretty smooth.

edit to add....I did some work on the second one today.

I am going to try to grind some thinner knives and thought I would weigh them before I started, around the half way mark and after I was done. These are rough surface ground. I will take them down some more, just not sure how much at this point.

Ground this blade and made the handle scales this weekend. I'll make a sheath for it tomorrow. S35VN is time consuming to grind, but it performs very well.

edit to add...got the sheath done.

edit to add...got the handle done on a light weight hunter. 134 grams. S35VN.

I put an edge on one of the large drop point hunters and thought I would try cutting a tomato with it.

Finally finished the first flipper today. Homely, but comfortable in the hand. And it works.

Something a little different in AEB-L.
