I don't think that would hold enough

Liberty is not a thing for the great masses of men. It is the exclusive possession of a small and disreputable minority, like knowledge, courage and honor. It takes a special sort of man to understand and enjoy liberty and he is usually an outlaw in democratic societies. - H.L. Mencken

The Stack On does seem like the cheapest-easiest idea, it comes on sale for around $100 at CT sometimes

I bought one of those cheap checker plated black boxes at the local lumber yard, approx 14" h x 18" w x 36" L, padlock latch, even had a 1" hole cutout at one end that I used to run a chain through and into a eye hook in stud. About as secure as I need it, must have 5 or 6 k rounds in it from 9mm to 308. Think it was somewhere in the $40.00 - 60.00 range.
