    Actually my Redline oil in my truck is good for over a year with the amounts of mileage I do. But i change it out regardless. But thanks for your input.

    My attention to detail is pretty high, thats why I dont buy junk.

    A lot of times it's not the rings, but the poor tolerances of the rifle mounts.

    Manufacturing Tech is night and day from 40 - 50 years ago.
    Grand Dad had to Lap the Junk they made in the 70's.

    Buy a nice set of CNC rings and a Base and you will be fine. Of course any Gunsmith or Shop will tell you it's a good idea because it is easy money in their pocket.

    Most have their own equipment to do gun and ammo related jobs. I can see why you would not lap rings.

    Never have had to. But I do like a one piece bedded scope base, for assisting in correct scope alignment.
