To those who decided not to go on Sunday....

What a beautiful day. Very little wind. Gorgeous weather! Hits all over the place from a kilometre to the mile. Only four shooters on the long range all day.

My seventh trip to the mile this summer....... Jealous? Well then, get off your a$$!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

...windy today, huh? With steady winds from right to left of 30kph and gusts to 60kph, the holdovers were enormous. With the .308 155gr Scenars, I was holding between 18 to 20 moa left at 1 kilometre and making hits better than 75% of the time. With the .338LM and 300gr SMK's, the holds weren't as large. But still, out to 1500m I was holding between 12 and 15moa left. Not many hits out that far and none at the mile today. But the boomer was banging away at a kilometre with 5 to 7moa holds.

I knew it was going to be windy today. So why did I still go? Why not? If you can't shoot in the wind, you shouldn't be shooting long distance. But I really needed a spotter today with the wet conditions. Not much in the way of splashes on the misses. But I had the range to myself from 10am until I left at 1pm, so no joy there.

The range will be closed mid-week to re-hang all of the steel. It will be nice to increase the targets at each berm. Because as it is now, most of the steel is on the ground behind or next to each berm. Still no steel at 900 or 1400m.

Summer is fast disappearing. Temperatures today started at 8c and when I left, it was only 16c. For those of you who have been putting off the mile, there won't be many more weekends before the weather will make those slow burning powder calibres safe queens for the winter.

    ...just say'n...
