Winchester Mod 70 300 Win Mag

This rifle was given to me in bad shape. It is mine now. The stock was broken in half at the pistol grip. The scope on it was shaped like a banana. Rear see through sight was bent. The safety wouldn't work. Worked on the safety first. The back part of the bolt was out by one turn. Next the see through scope mount, Fixed with a little work. Now the scope. Replaced it with another one. Gave the Redfield banana to a friend for parts. That scope looks like it was from the seventies. Well last thing was the stock. Broke out the gorilla glue. Worked good. Stock is nice and tight. I used the gorilla wood glue on a browning 375 H&H a few years ago. Stock was also broken at the grip. That was three years ago,I haven't heard any complaints, He is still using it for moose hunting.
    Hard work pays off.

Now I feel kind of bad.

    I'm new and I got a 30-30 and a 308 for large game.

Why would you feel bad? You need a shotgun. I have lots of rifles and a few shot guns. Just collecting more.

Me just starting out and got two 30 cal and you only got one.

I'm not getting a shotgun. Don't plan on hunting turkey or birds.

This is only my opinion but are you sure you want to trust a glue repair in a critical area on a wood stock, on a hunting rifle? Considering what a good hunt will cost to get into the bush, provisioned, and during a period of time off work? Not to mention the logistics of three or so people arranging this time off at the same time...

I would hate to see the stock start to wobble or actually come apart again once you were away from home, on a hunt. All you would have to do is take a tumble down a hill and you will be putting the glue repair to a pretty severe test. Have you priced out a new or replacement stock?
