    direct substitute for Clays powder?

I'm loading for 7/8 oz #8 with Clays. I will run out today.

On hand I have unique and trail boss, some others as well.

Is there anything I can use as a direct substitute?

There's no direct substitute. Clays is fast burning stuff. Bit faster than Bullseye. Red Dot is a bit faster than Clays. In any case, if you change powders you must work up the load again.
Any reason you're not buying another can of Clays? Where you actually are will matter.

Thanks. I found a lb. That won't last long.

Nope, a pound won't last long. Less than 350 rounds most likely. Lots of powders in that range will work for 7/8 ounce loads. Clays is a good one, but if you look on Hodgdon and Alliant's sites they will show you what powders will work.

    I want to move to 1 1/8 oz. I have 2000 wads.

I do have more powders, I discovered. Quite enough for some time. Clays cost me $47, tax in.

It's ok and I may keep using it.
