The BCGs aren't compatible, nor are the gas tubes (for what I've seen on video)
I highly doubt the FCGs are compatible either.

How is it a "variant" then?

For a lab, they don't seem to do much science.

    It's blow back .22 ... it's actually an available non-res .22 in a different stock.
    Look for logic elsewhere.

The Galil might actually be a named prohib. I don't feel like checking.

Liberty is not a thing for the great masses of men. It is the exclusive possession of a small and disreputable minority, like knowledge, courage and honor. It takes a special sort of man to understand and enjoy liberty and he is usually an outlaw in democratic societies. - H.L. Mencken

    Correct.

To determine if something is an AR15 varient they pull out the handyman's secret weapon and like an episode of Red Green they try to tape an AR upper to the item in question's lower. If it fires even one round, it is a variant. That is why ATRS was brilliant in changing the geometry of their rifle so that couldn't happen.

And appeals courts have held up the "it looks like" argument for variants. The claim that police can't be expected to know the internals to make that differentiation.

Same way the armi Jager got banned, even as a .22LR. Looks were enough.
