    Help Me Out Here Folks.

Upcoming auction (YEA!!) and I need some help with one particular handgun. Quite simply, WTF is this thing? What kind of competition is/was/could it be used in? Looks like some steampunk abomination.

"...WTF is this thing..." Custom built Smith Model 65(discontinued in 2004) made for Bianchi Cup shooting(plates). Pretty much useless for anything else.
Since iCollector, a well known over priced but high end collector site, thinks it's worth $450 with all the stuff, they're probably not thinking the extra stuff adds anything. It's basically a 'K' frame, Smith, M10 in .357. I think the 6" barrel is aftermarket as the '-4' indicates an evil 4" barrel.

iCollector is the online facilitator for numerous other auction houses. This auction goes live January 21/2018 at the Holiday Inn in Newmarket. It started at $10.00 and has been bidded to the current $450 in just a couple of days of online action. That's quick for such an obscure item.

Actually, not a model 10 at all. And, the -4 indicates that it is the fourth or fifth iteration of the model 65 which is a fixed sight K frame .357 Magnum in stainless steel. I’m not certain whether the numbering for a model starts at 65 or 65-1.
