I note that Wendy's brief was published after the meeting. I assume Conservative MPs had no opportunity to read her brief to intelligently question her about its content.

Mine has more guns that I do. That is the rule in our house. I can buy whatever firearm I want as long as she always has more than me.

    I updated post #91 a bit.

I wonder if Wendy is mixing up her facts.

The "Leger Marketing, December 2009, margin of error ± 2,53%,19 times out of 20." she used to quote in 2009 said "A Leger Marketing poll showed that people living with gun owners were more likely to support the registry (47%) than oppose it (36%)."

We agree that most gun owners have been registered and have registered their firearms. Of course, most Canadians support gun control, with a recent Léger poll indicating that 59% of Canadians consider the gun registry a good investment.
Two-thirds of women polled support the registry. It's worth it.

The vocal gun lobby does not speak for most rural residents. A poll by Leger Marketing showed that while more gun owners were more likely to oppose the registry (59%) than support it (36%); people living with gun owners were more likely to support the registry (47%) than oppose it (36%). (December 2009, margin of error ± 2,53%, 19 times out of 20) Many politicians appear to have forgotten that women vote too.

    and
59% of Canadians believe that the registration of rifles and shotguns is useful and should be maintained, according to a nationwide opinion survey. The survey also shows that two-thirds of women and half of people living with gun owners also support the gun registry.

The only "two-thirds" I could find on the guncontrol.ca website was this

A study done in the provinces of New Brunswick and PEI on family violence in rural settings found that two thirds of the women indicated there were firearms in their home, and said knowing about the firearms made them more fearful for their safety and well-being. Women were more likely to express concern for their safety when the firearms owners were not licensed, and the firearms not registered or safely stored

    I hope it's not this
    http://www.legal-info-legale.nb.ca/e...e_Links_EN.pdf
    http://www.legal-info-legale.nb.ca/e...imal_Abuse.pdf
That's the one paid for by the Canadian Firearms Program, where they surveyed about 300 victims of domestic abuse in PEI and New Brunswick, interviewed several, found about 65 who lived in a home with firearms, and 60% of the firearms were unregistered. It says that if the police took the guns, the abuser would get one from a friend.
It also says "While we recognize that these interviews and focus groups looked at the experiences of relatively small sample of rural women and service providers, 72 in total, and because the sample was not randomly chosen, we make no attempt to generalize our findings to the entire population. "

    All briefs

Say what you like about PolySeSouvient, that's how you write a brief.
    https://www.ourcommons.ca/Content/Co...Souvient-e.pdf
Very good production values, and some interesting links.
(and several old debunked points, and lots of irrelevant material they probably just had lying around and thought they'd throw in)
Their objection to Training discounts (take the CFSC and CRFSC course together and save $50!), on page 21

Continuing PolySeSouvient's dismissal of rules, their brief ignores those set out in
    https://www.ourcommons.ca/About/Guides/brief-e.html
    e.g.
A brief should not exceed 10 pages in length, but please check with the clerk of the committee or on the committee's website for possible specific requirements. A brief that is longer than 10 pages must be accompanied by a summary of no more than 500 words.
    21 pages. No summary.

"The rules don't apply to me. But I want those other people, people who aren't me, to have more rules. More rules. And still more rules! And send them to jail if they don't comply. No no not me, just them, Them, THEM!"
