For the Mayerthorpe part, you'd have to read
"Report to the Minister of Justice Fatality Inquiries Act and Attorney General CANADA Public Fatality Inquiry. NW 18-58-7-W5 in the County of Lac Ste Anne, Alberta, near Mayerthorpe, Alberta". I have that around here somewhere.

As near as I can tell, an MP asks the Library Of Parliament to research a topic, and the librarians get to work. They're usually not biased, and do a hugely better job than newspaper reporters.

Both of these documents used to be available elsewhere, and probably still are available elsewhere. But my bet is that I got them from MP Garry Breitkreuz's website, which is no longer up (although the CSSA was going to host/mirror the old website). My file names would be different. For example the latter might have been called "Document820.doc", but the contents wouldn't have changed so you can search by the contents if you like.
    Thank you!

An inquiry earlier this year into the deaths was told that officers who surrounded the shed after the shootings needed more weapons. They had to ask to borrow rifles from neighbours because the local detachment had just one long-barrelled gun.

During that shooting, officers were asking neighbouring farmers if they could borrow guns, he said.

Martin said RCMP were at another disadvantage, and were “well-under-armed” compared to Roszko. Officers responding to the scene after the shootings brought their own high-powered rifles or borrowed hunting firearms from others in town.

Enhanced background version of the previous post. Information came from an Internet Check.
Note that an Act Of Parliament was not required to create this meme, as it was done pursuant to existing powers.
