    GRC - Gibsonís Shields Up

    https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

This site is apparently used by the ipcamtalk forum for some preventative scans of your network. It does have a series of podcasts ďSecurity NowĒ that seem worth going through as well. With them available in transcripts, assorted audio files, etc.

So it seems thereís a few things that you should do for even basic Internet security. Apparently a big concern is your IoT things are used by hackers and others for their always on computer aspects to use for themselves and to launch attacks from to other places.

    Among these are:

    Setup a VPN
    Closing any open ports
Creating dedicated access pools for some addresses

And here’s their page on passwords. Showing how
    D0g..............
    Is better than
    As1*Yb(]1V

And WPA is basically all you want to use. Don’t use WEP, MAC address filters, or hidden SSIDs. And WPA is all you need for home networks. A little extra to WPA if you need/want to separate your users a bit, like in a business environment.

They have a 63 character password generator page if you want to try it.

I've been using WPA2 with hidden SSIDs.
I don't have any devices that allow WPA3 yet.

Due to travel and work, AM radio was the only recurring option. So Kim Kommando was about it for tech...

Too bad, it was a good show for its time. Steve Gibson was a semi-regular. Smart guy. I'm amazed he's still going strong! Good for him.
