Hello folks

I talked with Derek from RDSC and have arranged use of the alpha range for a meet and greet on dec 28 . He has offered up a 25% discount on day passes if we can get 15 people or more. I am willing to donate some targets and arrange the meal accommodations . Now I understand that it is a busy time of the year but I would ask everyone to be committed to showing up if you say you are gonna be there !

I would suggest that we all meet at 4 pm shoot till 8 pm then off for supper and a few drinks ? If your able to go I'd like everyone to post in the thread . If everyone would post up where they would like to eat we can average it out and see what place wins out for our order!

I'd like to see lots of solid support for this and make it a common event for a meet and greet! Let me know what everyone thinks !!

Been busy with life. Shooting got put on the backburner while I was on a quest for the perfect motorcycle. Now that I have found it, I need to upgrade the suspension, replace the brake pads and tires, and give her a tune up before the snow melts. Then I have to help the g/f find a bike for summer, since she's finally getting her own.

Since I have to sight in the sks, and want to run a couple rounds through the t97 we will be there in the early morning and can help with set up if needed. Difference is at work we get paid substantial sums of cash to suffer those roads. So, if the roads are in the same state tomorrow, we may delay our departure pending road conditions. No range time is worth risking injury, as much as I want to zero my m14 :)

Well my little group had a blast. Managed to get a 1" group with the t97, considering the crappy irons it comes with, i was happy. It also turned out to be quite popular, lots of guys shooting it, and liking it a lot. Huge thanks to Steve for bringing his .22 pistol, and helping to teach my daughter some basics, as I freely admit I am rusty with handguns. Sks was a disaster, impossible to sight in, grouped great, I had several 5 shot .5 groups, just not where the crosshairs were, lol. When I tore it apart to clean the corrosives out of it, I discovered the spring pin that secures the front of the scope mount to the rear sight base was squashed, or undersized. Just enough that the front of the scope mount would shift. easy fix however. Jwire let me shoot the trench broom, slamfire is a real hoot.

Was very happy with the t97. LAR mags, gen 1,2,3 pmags, the factory 5 rounder all fed and functioned beautifully. A pvc50 mag would not, but the consensus was a tight fitting magwell. some time with a flapper and a dremel would fix that right up. As far as ammo, fed it 55 grain fmj, 62 grain ap, in 5.56, and a few different boxes and makes of .223, and zero issues. I got to shoot the cheytac, even if surprised by the sensitive trigger, good for a chuckle, played with a few handguns, and I was even blessed enough to partake of the Holy Black. All in all a great time, and a total blast. Huge thanks to Steve and Derek for setting this up!!!

Was great to finally put names and faces together. Great night. Huge thanks to the organizers for putting this together too. And unfortunately I've discovered that I really should have went with the M14 CASM Scope mount. At least I found out why the scope wouldn't take a zero the first time around. A quick flick of the Gerber sorted out that nonsense, but if it happened once, it'll happen again no doubt. On the plus side, LAV III OD green paint is tough and holds up nicely to a hot barrel. Not sure just how a half litre of CARC paint made its way into my airbrush, but there it is, giggle.

My wife and I had a blast (pun intended). Big turn out by the GOC members. I've never seen the range so full. Thanks to Derek and staff at RDSC for letting GOC do this. Also thanks to the fellow with the holy black smoke stick, that was fun to shoot. Nice aroma too, LOL. I'd like to see this turn into a semi-annual meet.
Sorry "big guy", no pix from me as my phone died 5min. after we got to the range. I'll try to get some today as we are going back to the range this afternoon.

Super sad still that we couldn't make it. My DH didn't want to ask his non gun loving family if we could keep our guns in their home. And the back up plan didn't work out either. But it looks like you folks had a blast. Next time, we will hotel it.

Alpha Range, up to 25 Yards. It looks so much shorter in person. Great shielding from the constant drizzle of .22 brass, wherever BSD went.

Such a joy to walk among the heathen smokeless crowd; showing the ways of the Holy Black, the only true powder. So much fun introducing new people to the sport, too. Thanks.

Again, many thanks too the RDSC staff, and all my GOC friends, for a great day!

Cheers and Happy New Year!

We totally had a great time and will post the pics later. It was also great to meet so many.

We brought: The SAPR, BD-38, SCAR, Thompson and a Fabarm Ultra-Short for people to shoot. By far the favorite was the SAPR.

I also got to shoot a .408 Cheytac (thanks Steve). Photos to come!
