Ok, so my "Freeze King" brown paper says it provides excellent protection against freezer burn...

I have been told to not trust it and wrap everything with plastic first...

Experience? I was hoping to do this tonight, but I don't have the plastic available...

I always double wrap fresh meat - I have froze for over 1 year with no burn.

Yes, yes it does:). Good to know, we've always added plastic, next time I won't.

I have never added plastic to our wrapping and have had it last three years! The trick is wrap as tight as you can otherwise the burn will happen

I've found that a vacuu sealer assisted very well in keeping already paper wrapped game and grocery/butcher meat for long periods in the deep freezer without freezer burn.
sometimes there's a bit in packages from the vacuu seal punctured of the packages that have had such, but not much when handled properly and not thrown around in the freezer.

I've always had trouble getting meat to wrap tight enough in freezer paper alone and had small burns here and there. Now when I use paper, I wrap in saran wrap first, which goes on skin tight, and then the paper to protect it and have been happy ever since.
