I've been looking at single shot hunting rifles...Ruger #1, Blaser K95, Luxus...H&R...Browning 1885 and a few others.....

I couldn't find a thread on here about singles shots...what you using? what would you recommend?? Post some pics if you have them.....

The thought is to have a single shot [barrel swap for varied use a bonus] that is light in weight, a little pretty...and of decent enough quality that you can hit the target with regularity...what would you recommend?? My absolute max would be $2K for a bare rifle...so some of the ones I've mentioned are probably outside that.

Thompson Centre makes a single shot break action that has interchangeable barrels. They call it the Encore. It's not exactly pretty, but 2K would get you the gun and a few different barrels.

My H&R Sportster is by far my favourite rifle... It isn't light though (heavy varmint barrel)...

AND they are cheap... I love, love, love that gun...

I have a Rossi wizard and love it... interchangeable barrels, light as a feather and some great calibers available.... even does shotgun and black powder...

I've owned dozens of singles from rolling blocks and falling blocks to cheap old H&R's and loved every one.
My favorite at the moment is an 1874 Sharps falling block 50-70 though it wouldn't fit your needs.
I like the look of that Rossi Wizard of Brads and if it does rifle/shotgun/BP it is far ahead of most other singles for adaptability.

Interesting rig. What does the basic rifle cost? Additional barrels?

Basic rig runs around 300 and extra barrels are in the 150 range....

I had a Browning 78 in 6mm that i never should have traded. Good rifle even though i'm not a Browning fan. Can't say much about the T/C encore but i'd grab a Ruger #1 if the right deal came along, the ones i played with were good shooters.
