Anyone seen one of these for sale anywhere in the Edmonton area? I'd like to put my hands on one and see what it feels like.

the only ones i've seen imported and for sale are the kel-tec su-16f
the fx stock, fore end, and gas block/front sight are aftermarket additions/package and can be ordered from the states ( some companies will ship other won't, but going through irunguns always gets it through for their small service charge). AFAIK.

Vault distribution emailed me back with a dealer list for Canada, they did say that they have just started shipping these things to Canada, fully dressed up AR.

@Strewth - that's where I saw it! Called P&D in Edmonton, they have one on the shelf, $1,250.00 Heading down when I get some days off so I can hold it and see if I like the idea or not.

Pro's:
- lightweight
- .223
- AR mags
- NON-RESTRICTED

Con's:
- too light?
- parts availability

Anyone have any input on these? Reminds me of a Mini 14 in a lot of ways, just without all the dress up parts available.

Why don't they make it with a heavy barrel?

You need the .22 model for training too ;) http://www.keltecweapons.com/our-guns/su-22/rifle/

Can't comment on the fx model but i do like my f model, i don't care for the forend but not going to spend a lot on the rifle as i bought it for a light coyote rifle. I had a regular 3x9 scope on mine and couldn't remove the barrel for cleaning without removing the scope, bought a scorpion 3x9 compact and it works good no interference.

I really like the look of that FX model. I'd have to handle one first to see if I like it, but it does seem like a viable alternative to the AR with our Canadian laws.

It really seems like the best of both worlds, we get screwed with the restricted laws because everything that isn't restricted is usually over two grand (XCR, Tavor etc) or it's a small caliber like the JR's.

Just don't get it too hot or too cold and you will be good 2 go ;)

P&d enterprises had one the other day, I was comparing the feel to my su-16f. It's nice but the "eotech" wannabe optic they put on it is junk imo

The su fx all came in with 16 inch barrels and had to be returned to vault. I just got a SU 16 F off CGN for$800 add on $400 for accessories ,it looks identical to SU16FX only it's black.

Had an su16 with the ar style stock. Sold it, plastic doesn't not inspire confidence, felt like high cost, low value.

As did I, I agree... I jumped on the bandwagon right off the bat, tried it out, sold it off also ditched the sub 2000 and got the jr carbines.

I'm still stuck with the rfb, until the buyer pulls through. another under quality kel-tec platform IMO. not even going to bother thinking twice of the ksg after shooting it, no thanks.

I'm not fond of the plastic either but I did order the 81/2 inch aluminum hand guard .Also I do all my shooting behind my house which I would not be able to do with an ar platform.I am allowed to coyote hunt 10 months of the year around here.

Oh yea, I eventually ended up with a jr carbine.

Now kel-tec's wood and steel bulpup .223 looks interesting, but the msrp is $3000, so vault would charge canadians what? $6000?

I was going to coyote hunt with the su16, but the thing wasn't accurate in my opinion. I'm done with semi-auto .223s for hunting, bolt actions for me from now on.

I agree bolt action is much better for hunting, but I can take the 223 in the woods practically all yr round and shoot lots of cheap ammo. Our small game season ends February 23 so I don't think I can use my 22 after that.

What province?
Coyote hunting here is only from Oct to the end of March. Ridiculous considering the coyote isn't even native to PEI.

Yep I'm in NL .We have the same rules regarding moose.100000 + moose on the island and a 3 month hunt, and there not native here. But we do have a 10 month coyote hunt and I've never seen one.

P & D got some Kel Tec in today. Only a few of SU-16F, and RFB and a PLR-16R

I traded my stock SU16 with it's crappy 5 round mags for a fully kitted out 858 with 9 mags... seemed like a good trade at the time. Time will tell if it still was.

It was a novel concept, but I couldn't even get a 6" group at 50 yards shooting off a bench with it.

For a NR .223 that shoots AR mags, I think the T97 is definitely a better value.

I had a Sub2k too, but it couldn't cycle properly with reloads my Glock shoot no problem. I said the heck with it and sold it, and now I'm going to try rolling with a Roni kit.

I'm not impressed with Kel Tec.

So I got bit once with an SU16 - but reading some of the reviews of newer ones, I'm not so sure I'm twice shy.

Especially since there's this "predator" model that came out which has the Charlie stock on it that looks pretty cool.

Thoughts?
