Private Jackson was the American sniper from Saving Private Ryan - one of the most bad-ass characters in modern film:

I wanted to find out the verses from the Bible he prayed, and here they are (I think he was quoting the KJV translation). I think I'm going to rewatch it sometime this month:

Psalm 144:1-2:

Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:

My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

Psalm 25:2

O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

Psalm 22:11

Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

Psalm 28:7

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

the first psalm you wrote there reminds me of a website i came across in my internet travels that had a few topics on the ethics of self protection/carrying a gun vs christian morals.

i thought you in particular might find these reads intriguing.
