Dear Mr. Blaney,

I am writing this to you to express my utter amazement and dismay in regards to the decision to reclassify the smai-automatic rifle manufactured by Swiss Arms. I just finished reading an article in the National Post, written on February 27, 2014 by Matt Gurney, titled "Canada’s convoluted firearms regulations should have legal gun owners worried". To say the very least, I am completely shocked at the outrageous behavior of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and our members of parliament, including yourself for this ill-conceived, heavy-handed confiscation of the public's private property. These are the type of actions we normally see from third-world dictators and despots in totalitarian regimes and not from the honorable elected representatives of this great nation of Canada.

I completely and 100 percent agree with the writer when he states "that all such determinations should be made by a neutral panel of technical experts with full public oversight, instead of behind closed doors by the RCMP". I might also suggest, input from the firearms community as well. Where is the justification to confiscate private property legally purchased, where is the precedent in law? What was the incident which promted such an action? If this can be done with this type of firearm, what is to say that all firearms could be force ably confiscated in this very same manor? Is this the plan?

I would also like to ask how law-abiding firearms owners who are unaware of the classification changes will be dealt with? Will theses good people be turned in to common criminals, charged with a federal gun crime and locked in prison?

This is unlawful, dishonorable, disgraceful and shameful. Please reverse this decision, effective immediately.

Well. I got an email about a pro-life petition happening in New Brunswick and to sign the petition...

I'm pro-choice, but I thanked them for the information. I then sent all of the people in the email trail this petition. I wasn't expecting much, but immediately we got one more signature.
