Whoa... the whole original series is on Youtube...

Children of the '90s rejoice! The sequel to the classic animated series "Reboot" is looking cooler all the time.

Rainmaker Entertainment, which is developing the reboot of the franchise through its Mainframe division, has released a new logo and a title: "The Guardian Code."

For fans of the original TV series, the new title is a tantalizing double allusion to one of the central elements of the "Reboot" universe. Guardians, such as the character Bob in the original, are built from powerful code that allows them to resist viruses and heal other sprites. But the Guardians also have another important code: "To mend and defend."

The show is being re-imagined for the 20th anniversary of the original show, which debuted way back in 1994 (yes, you are officially old).

And the logo and title are an exciting development for fans who have burned in the past. Rainmaker announced in 2008 that it was at work on a "Reboot" film trilogy. The company even released a teaser trailer. But that project never materialized.

So the title, as well as all the regular updates from Rainmaker, are a welcome sign that this show is really going to happen. There's still no word on whether the sequel has been picked up by a TV network, but so far things looks promising.

Last year, Rainmaker president Michael Hefferon told Canada Dot Com's Lauren Strapagiel that the studio has secured a partnership with a "major computer entity" to bring the show back. As for a network home, he said Rainmaker is eyeing YTV, which aired the original "Reboot."

And while initial reports suggested Bob, Dot, Enzo and other main characters from the original might not play much of a role in the new show, Hefferon told the Reboot Revival blog that they will have a major presence. He also said the focus is on making the show marketable for younger audiences (that means more like the kid-friendly first two seasons of the original and less like the darker later seasons).

The only bad news is that Rainmaker hasn't been doing very well financially of late, losing more than $1 million per year according to Canadian business. But that just makes the new "Reboot" even more central to future success.

So yeah, get excited millennials, this looks like it's going to happen.

In the words of Bob: "No one knows for sure but I intend to find out."

Excited is an understatement!

I was too old for this when it came out, but I understand it was the first fully computer animated series on TV.

Yeah - and it was awesome.

I think every Millennial boy who watched it wanted to grow to be Enzo Matrix... have a big mean dog, a hot babe of a girlfriend, packing a gun with "Death Blossom" targeting mode that painted an apperature on the forehead of every target in the room.

There was a scene where Enzo shoots a satanic demon in the head execution style that went bullet time slo-mo.

It was pretty dark... and awesome.

Probably one of the most memorable moments of my childhood.

Never really got into this one as a kid. Though I guess I probably only got to see it when I stayed with friends in town who had cable... I spent a lot of time in the woods with a stick or BB gun instead, cartoons were only Saturday mornings and for half an hour after school (by the time I made it home at any rate). New Star Wars has me way more giddy, watched the original trilogy on VHS over and over. I am incredibly hopeful that, despite the new lightsaber, they won't be a total pile of $&@#.

Can't find the execution vid - but found this one - which even in low def is pretty good.

Also the voice of AndreAI is Andrea Libman - who later went on to voice Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie in My Little Pony:Friendship is Magic.

Another reason to hate soccer moms of the 90's (like Wendy Cuckier)... they complained about the violence (and cleavage) in the show and got it cancelled... jerks...

If your best friend accidentally on purpose shot you in the thumb with a Red Ryder while you were standing the pop bottles back up I'm gonna be really creeped out.....

Here we go - 10 minute mark.

My Dad didn't let me own BB guns. So my friends and I would go steal 1" thick pieces of oak dowel from construction sites and have pretend light sabre/Sword fights with them. We had a rule because we were wusses of no body hits.

Smashed up our fingers pretty good in the process.

We had one kid actually get his eye put out by a thrown pinecone/grenade, but other than that, I agree with DougM. My childhood! Mine!
Ah, the heady days of summer, liberating a roll of kitchen garbage bags to use as sandbags for our bunker(worked pretty good, recommend).
(The eye got better)

This show looks OK, I like when they re-do cartoons.

Did any of you guys get the "Death Blossom" homage to The Last Starfighter?

His gun even does the same motion as the starfighter...

So wicked...

Ha! I missed that even though I am a fan of The Last Straighter. That clip you posted has new CGI in it. Did they do a special effects remaster or something?

I knew a guy who designed a couple of the characters on this show. I wonder if they are going to give him a call?
