SOUTH HURON Police confiscated firearms and ammunition during a search of a gun shop and two residences recently.



The searches concluded a 10-month investigation by the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit, along with assistance from the Huron OPP and Perth OPP detachments, into the illegal sales of firearms and ammunition based out of a gun shop located in Huron County.

On Thursday, May 17, 2012 members of the OPP executed search warrants at Ontario Gun Services and the adjoining residence located on Road 164 in Kirkton and at a residence located on Line 26 in Perth County. As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized a large quantity of firearms and ammunition.

Three people have been arrested and charged: a 48-year-old woman from South Huron is charged with two counts of transferring a firearm without authority and seven counts of transferring ammunition without authority; a 49-year-old man from South Huron is charged with two counts of transferring ammunition without authority; and a 64-year-old man from West Perth is charged with two counts of transferring a firearm without authority and two counts of transferring ammunition without authority.

The trio has a scheduled court appearance June 28, 2012 at Ontario Court of Justice Exeter.

I guess it's safe to say that OPP is by now running "stings" on folks whom either don't ask for PAL's, or refuse to fill out their "ledgers" ...

Sounds like any numerous small gunshops I have been in.

Business as usual for the Cops in Ontario unfortunately.

Well it did work to some extent ... But it's still one man's word against one other man ... Hopefully the judge throws this one right out ...
