View Full Version : 26 Nosler?

I'm thinking about getting something new for some longer distance shooting, as well as a lighter weight hunting rifle. I would be reloading, and was wondering what the general thoughts were on going to 26 Nosler? :tounge:

Lots of articles about it potentially being a barrel burner. Rolling your own may reduce that outcome but so little out there right now on the caliber to tell whether you can have both barrel life and accuracy with reduced loads.
I'm shooting 6.5 Creedmoor and liking the accuracy of factory Hornady so far.

Ya I keep reading that too. So many calibers...lol

Sexxxy to be sure. 6.5 bullets are long and slippery, launching them at 3400 sounds like a great idea.
Will that bullet hold up if you jump something at 50 yards?
Just how many shots do you get before the throat has disappeared?
Stuffing that much powder through that small of a hole will be hard on it, and I'd imagine it would be a "blasty" s.o.b.
Actually finding a rifle chambered in it might be problematic, and expensive of you do find one.

Would sure be fun to have a go with one, though ;D

Good points! I was looking at the nosler rifles at grouse river, about $2k for the basic ones, with b&c stocks, bedded, and ready to shoot.
