Later, fellow Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden said that the conversations so far have been only logistical, looking at windows when the key X-Files players, creator Carter and stars Duchovny and Anderson, are available. She confirmed that a potential X-Files followup will star the original leading duo of Duchovny and Anderson. There have been no creative discussions yet about what that new series might be.

I recently started catching up on the entire series on Netflix, which is 200+ episodes, and since I have young kids it's going to take forever because I can't just binge watch a weekend away. The best I can get is a couple hours after the go to bed.

The movie from a decade ago kind of tainted it though, because the magic chemistry of the show was always predicated on them never being romantically involved. Now that they've crossed that barrier, it would be tough to go back to the magic/tension.

All I really remember is 200 episodes of Scully saying "where are you going mulder?"

When I was a young lad I thought Gillian Anderson was a real fox...
And the x-files at times scared the crap out of me.

You, me, and a billion other guys.

I'm sure Kleenex stock went up every time XFiles and Baywatch was on.

X-files coincided with the early days of the Internet when people spent their time online looking up celebrity nude pics instead of go on forums, so one didn't need to wait until the show was on... At least not if you were a tech savvy older Millenial teenager.

Kind of funny how Mulder was the kind of hero a lot of us grew up wanting to be and he had a pornography addiction.

I remember back in 1995 my best friend had a computer with a 14.4 modem, and it was my first experience with the new net. This was back in the Webcrawler and Lycos days when search results were a crap shoot.

We'd look up a Pam Anderson nude photo and it would show up blury, then line by line it would slowly go to medium res, then after a couple minutes you could see the whole thing.

Inevitably someone else in the house would pick up the phone, cutting the Internet connection, and we'd get p!ssed off. Then a couple years later it was $300 more for a 28.8 modem, then in a couple years another few hundred for a 56k modem, just in time for blazing download speeds of 4.0k so downloading a song on Napster would only take a few minutes, if you didn't surf while it was coming in.

It became a soap opera after the second season.

Yup, exactly. I really enjoyed the first 2 or 3 seasons then stopped watching. Still, a reboot could be good.

It sounds promising since Duchovny and Anderson will be returning. I hope this project makes it off the ground.
