Camping Pictures!

I only snapped a few from our May long adventure, but it was really enjoyable. We went to the Saskatchewan side of Cypress Hills, and it wasn't even that busy. Some interesting hiking trails. And of course, we absolutely had to take the dogs every where.

That spot was a 5 hour drive North to Bancroft, Ontario, followed by a couple Km's through a back road, my little Honda Civic had no business even being on. I ended up breaking my exhaust pipe at the catalytic converter on the way out 2 days later!

None of that silly city folk camping for me!

My GF actually cried after we had to park the car and hike in, as I wasn't about to take the Honda over the rocks. Several trips hiking in our gear, and the struggle to find good dry deadfall for the fire, coupled with the bugs in late May was too much for her!

At night the wolves/coyotes were howling all around us, and my dog wouldn't take his eyes off of the bushes to the side of our site, and would constantly be growling at what appeared to be nothing!

Felt comforting to have the 30-30 loaded next to me all night, as the dog would just not settle. I slept like a baby, but the GF didn't sleep a wink. LOL

Here's one from a couple years ago at my secret lake in BC. 4x4 access only and you have to be able to find the right goat trail to turn down.

Here's a few I snapped this last weekend on a side trip to Kinuseo Falls near Tumbler Ridge. We camped next to an unnamed river about 20 minutes from Tumbler and drove into Monkman Provincial Park to check out the falls. My friend has never been this far north and was quite struck by the beauty of northern BC.

Well, that's one thing I miss about bc/ab. Quite different when it's not covered in snow.

Hoping I'll be doing some mild camping soon.

I love the snow... That just makes it better... In fact, I don't use a tent I make a lean to when it's snowy... Snow is a great insulator... And big bonus is snow on the ground you have a water source and a spot to cool your beer...

Nothing beats a screwdriver made from melted snow, tang powder and vodka... Lol...

Great pics all. When I lived in Swift Current I spent a lot of time at Sask. Landing. Usually managed to make it to Cypress Hills and Kenosee as well at least once a summer.

If I go camping again next week I'll take some pics. Might try out the new hammock for it.

An old timey blacksmith made the cooking irons for me about 25 years ago. I would not go camping without them.
