Bryan Bolivar from Modern Rifleman Radio (http://modernriflemanradio.com/) joins us this week to talk about rifle scopes. We cover everything from the basics of properly mounting a scope to more advanced things such as adjustable objectives and how to properly use target turrets. We even get into a few more advanced concepts such as parallax error, how to calculate the exit pupil, and what the heck a MOA is.

Great episode. Especially liked the scope section as I'm a long time irons shooter who's eyes are getting older. I'm buying my first scope once I get my grubby hands on my tax refund cheque. Thinking of the VX-R Patrol 1.24-4 from Leupold (link (http://leupold.com/tactical/scopes/vx-r-patrol/vx-r-patrol-1-25-4x20mm-30mm/)). This is for an AR and there is no where near me to shoot beyond 100m. Am I wrong in thinking a mount like the Burris PEPR (link (http://www.burrisoptics.com/ar-p.e.p.r.-scope-mount)) would be easier to get the scope properly aligned compared to two separate rings?

Oh, and here is a great article (http://snipershide.scout.com/story/1528352-mils-vs-moa-which-one-is-right-for-you?s) on the differences between MOA and Mils. I'm leaning towards mils for no particular reason other than it sounds interesting from a gun geek point of view.

Trevor uses old bubble gum to attach his scopes.

That looks like a fantastic scope for an AR. :) And that Burris mount looks like just the thing you should use to mount it. The quick detach option will allow you to quickly transition to iron sights should the scope ever get damaged.
