This was sent to CSSA members last week. Looks like we might have another gun-friendly politician.

I was not able to find anything in his http://www.walterpamic.ca/ website that would support what you have written.
Just because he pays a few dollars a year to CSSA does not even imply he is 'gun friendly'.
If he actually had some information on his web site that stated his 'gun friendly' position unequivocally, then that would mean something.

Being a member of the National Geographic Society does not make name an explorer, geographer. paleontologist or an anthropologist.

I'd tend to disagree. One does not have to be an explorer or geographer in order to be 'friendly' to the idea of explorers or geographers. Nor does a person have to declare all their interests on their webpage to still have an interest.

Anti gun politicians don't join the CSSA. He may not be another Gary B but it does indicate that he's at least sympathetic to gun owners, and it's a positive sign.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your webpage. :)

A graduate of Algonquin College’s protective services many years ago, Pamic carries himself as an authority figure: tall, stern but polite. He said many of his friends are police officers.

He is also a proponent of “getting tough on crime” but believes in spending money on preventative measures, too.
“We have to get at them in Grade 3, 4 and 5,” he said. “That shooting at Tanger in December never should have happened. He was previously in jail and let out. Why we let these people out on our streets to commit these crimes is baffling to me.”
He advocates enlisting some gang members in the military, not, as some city councillors want, to have them join the trades as part of an exit strategy.

I can find stuff on 'tough on crime' and similar, but no actual quote, position or reference to the civilian ownership, possession and use of firearms.

Probably can't find him actually speaking in favor of puppies. Doesn't mean he doesn't like puppies :)

There is a difference between 'gun friendly' and 'gun advocate'. He may not work hard for us, but at least if he's sympathetic to us and not working against us that's a significant plus. Clearly he doesn't blame guns for crime, which is good, and if he's a member of the CSSA that does in fact speak to the idea that he's friendly towards gun owners even if he's not a huge advocate.

Sure, it's always nice to see another candice or gary or the like, but at least if they're on this side of the fence that's a good thing for us moving forward.

Zinilin,

I support the local Humain Society, but you won't find me adopting every stray animal I see, nor will I join PETA in their protests.

Just the same, I like green peas, but I won't shove them down your throat.

Catch my drift?
