View Full Version : German Eye Candy

For more than a decade now, I have spent an obscene amount of money, effort, and time, (especially money), to indulge my passion for precision and long range rifles. And while this has, for the most part, been a very satisfying pursuit, lets face it, they're ugly. All of them. Now there's nothing wrong with that, but for some time I have thought that injecting a little beauty into my gunsafe wouldn't hurt.....actually, it is more like I have lusted for this particular rifle for quite a number of years. So last August I "bit the bullet", and placed the order through P&D Enterprises. Finally arrived a few days ago, and I must admit it is as beautiful (to me) as I had hoped for. I guess I just want to show it off:

Blaser K95 Stutzen Attache
Grade 9 wood, with "Super Finish"
Chambered in 7 x 57R

(Unfortunately, my inadequate pictures don't really do it justice)

Blaser sure knows how to make a pretty gun. I've always enjoyed eyeballing their product, maybe one day....

Wow, what a beauty! This, no doubt, will become a family heirloom. Have you taken it to the range yet?

That there is a thing of beauty. Will this be a safe queen or a hunting rig? Shot it yet?

Nope, haven't had it out to shoot yet. Still in the "look and fondle" stage......plus haven't loaded any rounds.....

To be honest, it may stay a safe queen for some time...scratching it on a barbwire fence or a rock, like I have most of my other hunting rigs, would likely make me cry....

There's something very...elegant? about a Mannlicher stock, but that wood is just gorgeous!
Octagonal barrel too? Verrrry nice.

It would be an absolute shame for a piece of art like that to spend its entire life hidden in a safe, but the first time any mark gets put on it is going to be physically painful!

During load development throw a moving blanket over the shooting bench to avoid oops. I'll bring some cotton gloves down when I come.

Thanks for all the kind comments guys, I am really proud of it. Has been my dream rifle for many years now, and it is certainly fulfilling to be lucky enough to finally acquire it.....

Have some 140 gr. Swift A-frames I'm going to start out with....and looks like IMR 4320, or 4064. Hope to pull the trigger this weekend, and, as Tigrr suggested, the entire shooting bench and rests will be covered with a soft fuzzy blanky...

Sweet looking piece of hardware D. Treat it like it was your first born...ok...maybe a little better than that. :)

How to bench an expensive rifle:

Finally got 20 rounds through him this weekend. Settled at 38.5 gr IMR 4320....Swift 140gr A-frame....gets me about 2320 fps. Started out a little hotter, about 2390 fps, but he didn't want to group well. Mind you, with the front bead being about 6 MOA, it's not quite like precision accuracy anyway. Little guy kicks a little, but its all straight back, no muzzle jump at all. Fun to shoot though....

Wanted to try these heavier bullets, but they're so damn hard to seat:

With a gun that looks like that you shouldn't settle for anything less than genuine Saskatchewan sealskin to guard against bench dings. And a Manitoba mountain goat fur to protect from safe kisses....

Beautiful rifle. :D

I must be the only jackass who if he had the money would buy a Blaser, Purdy or Holland&Holland and then walk around in the woods with it and hunt Africa carrying it. Scratches are stories and battle scars. :)

A scratch in the woods taking a trophy deer is a battle scar, a scratch taking your rifle out of a jam packed safe is a piss off.... :)

The hard to seat = just turn the bullet around and push!! Nice to see you sending lead down range.

If anyone wants one my neighbor, a retired German gunsmith has one he wants to sell.

Let me know if interested and I'll get you some photos.

Meh. My woman would buy me the bigger, second, third or 4th safe if she had the money and I needed it. Mainly because if there was that kinda money in our household, she'd probably have more guns than me. :D
