Description says "real solid wood furniture", and with the weight I would say metal

I guess the only plastic is the magazine.
Cast for the receiver iirc, military arms channel has a good overview that will tell you pretty much everything.

Kind of makes me want to get rid of the 10/22...

A balloon on the end of a paper towel tube slingshotting pennies would make me want to ditch the 1022 :p

I was wondering the same thing.
My wife said probably because unless you know guns you wouldn't know what a Stg 44 is but EVERYBODY knows what an AK-47 looks like.
