I have on good authority these are apparently banned in Canada. I had a choice between these and the SKS. Decided to go for this guy since the mags are detachable. Taking questions! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/21/56995ebb554ce0126057c26c2ad3287a.jpg

I like it.
What round does it shoot?
I wish Canada and the usa would get it over with and just join and be 1 country. The stupid thing is Canadians know everything about the USA and Americans only know Canada plays hockey and likes beer and maple syrup and bacon.

Great rifle. Very accurate. Only downside is that the stock is hollow. So the gun is very front heavy. If you were runNing and gunning it would feel somewhat awkward shouldering it. But I plan on getting wooden replacement furniture soon.

No haha. All of them have a shotgun stock and a non threaded barrel when it comes it so its legal in all 50 states. Its great being able to use a regular mag release.

I kind of like the shotgun stock tho I could see why you'd want it to be wood.

If you don't mind, what was the price? I ask because you mentioned the other option was an SKS which are priced about 2 to 3 times higher in the U.S. than Canada but most other non-restricted semis are cheaper.

I paid $700 out the door. The SKS is about 450-500 out the door.

I taped some flat lead ingots in there. It works but I still would like to get wood eventually.

Can't say that I have. Doubt it beats the saiga though. The saiga is quite possibly the only commie rifle with good ergonomics.

The VZ58 is the best commie rifle better than an AK47, its a solid rifle and is not nose heavy. It shoots so well that I find it a little boring, I prefer a rifle that is a handful like a svt-40 or a M95 or a M44.

My M38 is the fave to shoot

Fill the stock with expanding foam - it will take out some of the "hollow" feel without adding much weight. I'd personally keep the weight you have added and just add the foam.

I haven't had a saiga but I have owned AKs and owned a non-restricted cz 858 when I lived in Canada. I can say without a doubt that I prefer the vz58 to an AK.

It is so that they can comply with import restrictions. They can be converted (double stack mags, pistol grip etc.) in most states with the addition of some American made parts to comply with 922r following import.
