Stephen Harper 'delighted' to slow down Kathleen Wynne's pension plan

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Conservative Leader Stephen Harper are ramping up their war of words over the Liberal government's new provincial pension plan.

As Wynne was unveiling details of the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan in Toronto, Harper went out of his way to slam the idea as "an enormous tax increase" during a campaign event in nearby Markham.

After answering questions from reporters none of them about the ORPP* Harper returned to the microphone to raise the issue, saying he was "delighted" that Ottawa's refusal would make it more difficult for Ontario to implement the pension plan.

Harper said it would be bad for the economy and bad for jobs, noting small businesses have warned they'll have to cut jobs to meet the extra costs of a new pension plan.

A province of equally poor people who are dependent on the liberals is her plan. When all manufacturing is gone ( the real jobs) there will be no one left to pay the teachers, cops, politicians, etc. My bet is wynne and co. will have padded their cash reserves and retire before the rest of the real world figures out we are beyond broke.

I guess Brown is laying low until he wins the by-election before eviscerating Wynne on this harebrained scheme.

but next provincial election the voters will just keep electing the Liberals anyway. I've said it before....the "LIBERAL" label means more to people than the success or failure of their policies.

From his polls to god's ears. That right there is a CPC majority you'd be looking at most likely.

And the bc numbers are always messed up - the ndp always shows like it's going to run away with it there, and then we always elect more conservatives than the other two combined.

Interesting note - it's too close to the margin of error to say for sure so we'll have to wait for a few more polls to confirm, but it does look a little like over all as i suspected since the debates the NDP and libs have come a little closer together and the CPC is beginning to break into a bit of a lead.

I hope they pull out more than five seats, I was thinking somewhere along the lines of 20.
