I'm not a black plasticky kind of guy, but there's something a bit sexy about that rifle.
The itty bitty group helps, too ;D

The group helps a lot. I'm normally feeling pretty fine if I can talk a rifle into doing that at 100......

Nice rifle.
I'm kind of upset though. I saw EMP rifle and thought we had gone all Star Wars and I was gonna be able to get a blaster.

My first reaction as well! It would be a nifty project but there are no intact Mr. Fusion reactors that can generate the 1.21 gigawatts of energy required for a portable energy pulsed weapon!

There is a slim possibility that a Illudium PU-36 Space Modulator might be had if one could track down Marvin the Martian!

Probably for a great price, too, for it did not make an earth-shattering kaboom!

Serious? :confused1:

The Illudium PU-36 Space Modulator was the forefather of all weapons of mass destruction! (when it worked) It makes any EMP weapon pale in comparison! The only thing that comes close is the Galactic Empire's DS-1/DS-2 weapons platform!:fight

Here is a new addition to the fast-growing EMP family, a lovely .260 with:

Trued Rem 700 SA
CADEX Field Core chassis
26'' Bartlein barrel + Benchmark Muzzle brake
PRS stock
Trigger Tech trigger
Sightron SIII 6x24 on Barrett Ex Rings

Pictures of groups will follow... as soon as I will be able to shoot it!

Congrats Steve and Shane, this is a nice build that will shoot as good as it looks I'm sure!

Sorry, yes you! How wide is it folded up? I'm trying to figure out if I need to get the qd adapter, to have rifle fit in pelican with bipod.

It is rather wide. But it fits into a Plano case on the rifle no problem.

A couple more groups shot today. Temperature was -5c, calm, and overcast with snow falling. The rifle really seems to like Federal Gold Medal match 175gr BTHP. The distance was 304 yards.

Here is another build of mine that we had hydro dipped at Liquid Customs. Not really an EM Precision build 100%.

This one was build by Jason Anderson at Anderson Arms before we started up. He did a great job!

I took this one in and tried the hydrodip to see how it would turn out before we would start doing it for our customers. I think you will see it looks pretty sick.

I started out to break-in the barrel. I know there's lots of opinions on this, so I won't go into detail except to say I did 10 shot/clean cycles and tried to get a zero on the scope at the same time. I was on paper at shot number five, so I am quite proud of only my second scope mounting and bore sighting.

Then, I recorded the velocity of the ammo I used. Which was 77gr SMK's.

http://s20.postimg.org/d8qj1zn19/image.jpg

The five shot average was a bit slower than I expected, probably because it was quite warm (25c). It came in at an average of 2907fps. (The barrel is finished at 26 inches.)

Now, the rifle felt really good. I have used a prs stock before, so this was easy to get the LOP and cheek weld set up. The eye box for the scope was pretty good, so again, I'm proud of my scope install. I was single feeding the first 20 or so rounds. After that, I loaded 5 rounds into the magazine to check its operation. It was flawless. The action is smooth as butter. Steve warned me to give everything a good cleaning before using it. The action felt dry before I lubed everything up. Thus, the buttery feel. Ejection was very easy with this round. The Ergo grip is a favorite of mine, so I was happy with the feel of that.

This is the first time that I've tried the Trigger Tech trigger. Steve set it up just over a pound. It is very crisp and there is little to no creep before it breaks. I like it as much as my Timney CE on Steve's other build he did for me.

This is my first foray into a precision .223 set up. Shane has "told" me that I can take it out further than I believe I can (I won't tell you how far he said). So, I'm looking forward to stretching it out. Today, I shot out to 304 yards and it seems very accurate. I believe it really shows potential. Here's the first group that I tried at 102 yards after the first 15 rounds. I don't think there was much copper in the barrel after only 5 rounds since I cleaned it.

http://s20.postimg.org/sq9fry44d/DSCN0072.jpg

So, there's my short review. I'll try and post some more groups as I progress with the rifle. I'll report on how far I can take it out as well. A trip out to Edson is in the near future.

The only problem that I have found....everyone who sees it always asks if it is a Ruger Precision rifle. That's disappointing...and that's all I'll say about that. Thanks to Shane and Steve for another beautiful rifle!

I just looked at my notes and I forgot to mention something. Although I haven't yet weighed the rifle, the felt recoil is about the same as a magnum rimfire. A little bit more than my .17HMR. After getting used to the recoil on my .30 calibre rifles, I had no idea what to expect with this.

Pretty cool.

Wow! Cadex would have to take a long hot shower if they find out that people think its a Ruger. In fact, I think I need to go scrub down right now!

Great write up Andy! Look forward to seeing what it does once you are done your load development!

Out today with the " Divine Wind" 300WSM that EM Precision built. Shane luuuuved the name, he actually wished he named his 7mm build that!:la: Anyway, This thing rocks, built for heavier pills and in my own kinda haphazard way of finding out what loads might work, that came to fruition. All I can say is Steve builds a nice rifle, if you're looking to get into the precision, or long range game, you should really look at their product.

Shane got some good video of the recoil pulse effect with their muzzle brake on my gun ( So if you can post them Shane?), which has an MDT LSS Chassis and a light Palma barrel, so it's light. Felt recoil is, how can I say it? Bugger all comes to mind, if you're just looking for recoil mitigation, check these things out, they kick a@#.

Pics up later, cause now I need to do some load development, I'll post groups and stuff in a bit, as soon as I have some longer range eye candy to show you.;D

The Cadex .223 EM Precision build seems to like 77gr Scenars in Lapua brass with CCI BR4 primers and 24.1gr of Varget. It seems to be averaging around 1/4moa at 201 yards. I am also working on a second pill, the 68gr HPBT Hornady match. Results to follow.
I am in a hurry though. I'm trying to do this development before next week's Poker Rally. Fun times!

Let me tell you guys the tail of a poor redneck who ran out of time, got stuck in a big city, and had some friends bail him out in a BIG way.

I originally intended to shoot the poker rally with my Browning BAR in 300 win mag. I put a nice Vortex PST 6x24x50 scope on it, a new set of mounts, and did the initial load development on it (finally - I've owned it for 5 years already). Now, this gun has shot a group of three into one not very ragged hole in the hands of a friend. Of course, I couldn't remember the load I used.. After doing the initial load development on it, I got it down to about 1 MOA. I then loaded up my final batch of 0.1gr steps and off to the range I go. This is the absolute last day I was going to be able to get out there before I had to go on vacation with the family back to southern Ontario. I spent 45 minutes setting everything up just so...targets all labeled, chrony set up. Everything was perfect. I fired exactly ONE shot and something in the bolt let go. The bolt wouldn't rotate out of the barrel lugs...she was jammed up solid...and that was that. I was toast. I had no time to fix it before we were leaving and that was that.

I packed everything up at the range, and before even leaving the parking area, I called up my buddy Steve at EM Precision in Spruce Grove Alberta (shameless plug because he deserves it.) :) Steve and I have been swapping machining jobs, and this and that for a few years now. I've been telling him for a while now that he was going to do a build for me one of these days. I've actually been saving up for it for a couple of years now. I "appropriated" some money from another account that I probably shouldn't have, but what the hell...you only live once. I told him it was time...and that I had NO time to do anything. I was heading out of town and wouldn't be back until about 12 hours before I had to leave for the poker rally. I ask him if he can get it done. Now, he knows how much I've been looking forward to this shoot. I missed the first few years, and I made special arrangements to fly back from Toronto for it. He put me in touch with his partner Shane, and we hashed out the details of what I wanted. I dropped off my best rifle case with Steve and told him "Here. It has to fit in this." LOL.

They got all the parts together and got to work. Here's the list of bits from the actual build sheet.

Remington 700 - Long Action Magnum Stainless
Benchmark .30 caliber barrel - 1:10 twist 5R Finish at 26"
MDT - HS3 Chassis Rem LA Right Hand Black
MDT - Skeleton Stock Black
Precision Ground Recoil Lug - 0.250"
EMP Shockwave Muzzle Brake 1.00" 4-port- Supply and
Ergo Deluxe Grip
Trigger Tech - roller bearing trigger 1.5-4lbs adjustable
Chamber and Install Barrel - .300 Win Mag
True Action
ATRS 30moa Scope Rail

It's topped off with a set of ATRS rings, my Vortex Viper PST scope, and a Harris bipod that I grabbed off one of my other rifles.

While I was still back east, he sent me a few teaser pics of the build. Oh man...I was dying to get back home. I never wanted a vacation to be over so badly in my entire life.

Enter my brother of a different mother. You know him as Rottweilerboy. We didn't have time to do a proper load development on it. The gun was finished about 3 days before the shoot. This guy loads up a bunch of ammo for me. He picks up my gun from Steve. He takes it out to the range for me, and gets it on paper and zeroed. He also loaded me up enough ammo to do a little practice shooting on Friday as well as enough to shoot the entire poker rally. I escaped the big evil city and got back into Edmonton Thursday night, Jonanddad picked me up at the airport, and headed for home. Rottweilerboy then DELIVERS the gun, ammo, and a few other things to me !!!! Seriously brother...you will NEVER know how much you helped me out. Thursday night, with the help of a couple other friends, Jon and Kate, I managed to get everything ready to go, including a few more rounds with the same load.

It was about 1am Friday morning when I finally got everything together and ready to go. I went downstairs (thank God) for one last thing, and I find my hot water tank pissing water all over the floor via the pressure relief valve. Oh brother...what next. I shut off the hot water tank, and the water to the house. I left a note for ANOTHER friend who was watching the cats for me (Mrs BSD and the kids are still back east for a few more weeks) that the water was off...here's some bottled water for the cats. I think I managed to sleep from about 2 am to about 3:30 am, and I woke back up again. I tried to get back to sleep, but it just wasn't happening. I said screw it, and started loading the truck. I headed for the shoot sometime around 5am. I rolled in, called Steve, ate some of his bacon and eggs (no really...this guy is salt of the earth type people...does what amounts to an emergency rifle build for me AND feeds me breakfast !).

I followed some of the guys who had volunteered to do the shoot out to a spot where I could try and get used to this thing before the rally started the next morning. I'm burnt out and exhausted beyond belief. The deer flies are circling me by the tens of thousands (I've never seen them even HALF that bad before in my life. It was insane). The first thing I notice is that this thing doesn't kick like a 300 win mag. It kicks like a friggin Ruger 10/22 !!!! Almost NO recoil. Well...that's because of the amazing brake on it, and the fact that it comes in, with a loaded magazine in it, at 17.1 lbs. LOL.

Anway...I tried and tried to figure this thing out through the haze that was making up half my brain by that point. After a few hours, I gave up. It just wasn't happening. When I got back to camp, he asks me how it shoots. I tell him I can't get it together with this gun.....and I KNOW it's not the gun. It's me. He seemed disappointed, but I assured him it was me, and not the gun. Rottweilerboy had already shot it for me, and it groups pretty sweet for a rifle that got fed "What's your load for your 300 win mag brother ? Good..your load is now my load" ammo. LOL.

Rottweilerboy arrives with his trailer later that night after working all day, as do a few other friends. We socialize a bit, after which, I crashed...HARD. Seldom have I been happier to see a bed. 6am the next morning, up and at em. Snipezilla and Flyinghigh are there. We wolf down some much needed food and coffee, and off we go. Basically, I've got this rifle figured out to about 200 yards, and that's it...and I'm shooting a poker rally with it. What could go wrong. Well...as it turns out, not much. I got all my cards, and did better than I expected, using a lot of "old guy gut instinct" for the hold overs past 200 yards. I honestly gave up on the ballistics calculator I was using.

After a very long day of playing in the rain and mud, we arrive back at station 1.....the infamous Alberta Poker Rally 1200 meter shot (I think somebody said they lasered it out at 1191 meters this year.) Anyway...the way it works is, you get your card for hitting any one of three targets with up to 5 shots. Everybody shoots until they either hit all 3 or until they've fired 5 shots. After that, you've got 3 shots to hit the target at 1200 meters. Hit that, and you get a joker (a wild card). I smacked the first one no problem. There...got my card. I think I took 2 shots at the second target and missed. That's when I said to hell with it. Let's go after the 1200. I'd been doing rough calculations in my head over this shot all day. I also plugged all the numbers into the ballistic calculator. It said something like a 29 MOA drop. There's no friggin way. I figured it was closer to 40 given my bullets and speed. Jonanddad's calculator sort of agreed with me. I dialed up 40moa on the scope and popped off a round. I managed to see it hit. Still low. I held over where I thought it should be, and hit about 2 feet low, but dead center on windage. The third shot, I missed, and we couldn't see where it hit. I think I held over a bit too much and it went right over top.

So.....basically, I got handed a rifle while I was in a state of utter exhaustion, and practiced with it for a couple of hours and didn't get much more than frustration. I went from that, to getting very close results at 1200 meters in one day. No Steve...it isn't the rifle...the rifle is AWESOME with a side of awesome, dipped in awesome coating with awesome filling !

This week, I'm going to take my sweet time, prep some now fire formed brass, neck sizing only, and get my load development ready to take out next weekend. I figure I'll have this puppy shooting one hole within 2 weeks without any trouble at all. Once I have that down, I'll take it out and really stretch it's legs.

Well...that's it kids. Here she is in all her beauty. If you guys ever decide to pull the pin on a Canadian built bundle of awesomeness long range rig, make sure you give Steve and Shane a call at EM Precision. Nelson..Jon...Kate...Steve...Shane...you made this this weekend happen for me. That's all there is to it, and without all of you, it would have turned out to be a disaster. I love all you guys !
