Hey, I recently purchased a Rugger 10/22, i was wondering what people recommended as a sight for it? My main focus is to use this gun as a gopher killer and range gun for out to 100m... ish

any input is helpful,

Thanks.

I have tech sights, but for that kind of work you'd probably want a scope, no?

I put a Bushnell Trophy 3X9 600 DOA on mine and in all honesty it was worth it. Has made the gun fantastic out to 200 yards and although I don't shoot gophers I guarantee at 100 if you miss it is not a gun or scope problem. At 200 we shoot "clays" and although a challenge very doable.

Lee Enhfield, for that scope is there different models for the .22lr specifically, or is the BDC just a rough thing?

May want to look into a Mueller APV, they're highly recommended on the rimfire central forums.

The scope is probably overkill for the gun however you can use it on many other rifles with some confidence. I had a lower priced .22 scope on it and it was OK but I have learned when buying "glass" spend a little more and get better quality. I own scopes that are much higher in quality however for even a .22 I think it is worth the money.

I am not sure if there are other models of that particular scope, I do know Busnell make a bucket of scopes at various price ranges and for the money this is a pretty decent scope.

Funny thing is this scope is a warranty replacement as the orig. Busnell failed and they sent me this one as my other scope was discontinued. Bushnell were great to deal with and no questions asked about warranty.

I replaced the original Bushnell with a Simmons 3X9 when I sent my Bushnell away and to be repaired. The Simmons is OK for a .22 however there is no comparison in quality however it is inexpensive compared to the Bushnell.

Google Bushnell, look at what they have and purchase the best one you can afford..my 2 cents.

You could look at a red dot of some kind. I've got a Tasco red dot (~$50) from Canadian Tire on my SR-22, and its killed many a gopher. I've had it for three years with absolutely no issues. If you want to spend a bit more, the Vortex Strikefire (~$200) looks like a good red dot scope. I've played with one, and it looks like it will be my next optic. I'm also going to buck up for the magnifier, but I've also got a full rail to mount everything on where you've only got a short weaver rail. Aimpoints and Eotechs are available if you've got the cash, but they can cost more than the 10/22.

I'd avoid the inexpensive NCStar products if you can. The quality is very hit or miss. Your mileage may vary.

I've got a Leapers 4-16x by 50mm mildot scope on my .22 Savage right now, but it fits the 10/22 just fine. Holds zero, and has more magnification than you'll need. Cheap too, scope and rings are in the $150 range. These scopes might seem kinda mickey-mouse, but they stand up just fine.

Got a fixed 4 power on my 10-22. Have run 1x red dots and others before but prefer the conventional scope for grouse and gophers. Its a cheap bushnell and has never given me any issues.

One of my buddies put a 5-25 scope on his 22lr. Now he says that instead of shooting grouse in the head he shoots them in the pupil.

If you like peeps, in addition to Tech Sights, Skinner Sights is just coming out with a receiver one, and currently has a replacement for factory barrel mounted site for the takedown model.

Tech or Skinner, you can't go wrong.

Otherwise, I have a cheap tasco mildot on my SR22 and it makes adjusting fire a breeze, even with a breeze.

Lots of company's have dedicated 22LR rifle scopes. I would look into it. My favorite was from a ebay purchase of a nock off leopuld.

I use a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40mm. It's worth about the same if not a bit more than i paid for the gun. Overkill? I think not! :D

On a take down gun, I'd just stay with the iron sights myself.

If you want a decently priced scope the simmons 22 mag 3x9 is good and you can pick them up for 50 or 60 dollars have had one on my marlin 60 for a while now, nice clear glass, just spend another 20 dollars or so and buy a decent set of rings for it as the ones that come with it are junk. This scope has worked well for me just saying.
