At a garage sale, I found 3 shell casings from a guy who says he took them from the ship he served on while he was in the navy, 30 years ago.

He was selling them for $2 each, and I figured the melt value of the brass alone has got to be close to $20 (each weighing in at about 7lbs).

No doubt, there's bound to be some military buffs with Stockholm syndrome who would want a collectors piece as a reminder of their time in basic training having to polish a similar such shell.

Anyone have any idea of how much one of these thing's might be worth?

My mistake, I think it was a 3 in 50 calibre Mark 3 Model 3.

It looks like this one, but not nearly in as good of shape (they're dinged up a bit and there's some holes drilled through the headstamp and case neck - I think to prevent it from being reloaded).
