What kind of air rifle? Plain Jane, high velocity (PAL required) or one of the large calibre jobs?

ctc has some for cheap. diana and benjamin offers quite good quality products. the nitro ones are perfect for little critters, but you need a pal.

"...cheap and good..." Usually an oxymoron. What do you consider 'cheap' to be? Budget? .22 or .177?
Where you are matters too. Don't think every Province allows air guns for hunting. Ontario lets you use air powder handguns for small game though.
Cabela's Canada lists a bunch staring at about $169.99 for a scoped Winchester 1100SS. That one requires a PAL. Same thing with no PAL or scope is $10 less. Not that the PAL/no PAL thing is a big deal since you're hunting. You'll have a PAL anyway.
Don't even think Air Soft. Those are toys and are not suitable for hunting anything.

Google what seems to be the best for your needs, and where to buy it. I google stuff to get the reviews on customer satisfaction.

I think the ruger airhawk comes non-pal rated and is easily upgraded to pal rated velocitys.

get a benjamin .177 nitro...they comes with rsw 4-32 scopes specifically designed for them for something like 200$ . when you say ''hunting purpose'''' i figure it is for the little critters around the house ? birds, squirrels and such ?
in such case, a nitro might float your boat.

I've got a Ruger Airhawk and it's pretty decent for the money. I never did mount the included scope on it, so I can't speak for that.

Walmart.ca selling them with a scope for 99$ cost me 114$ shipped to my door. Bought one for my step father.

scopes and ammo selling PAL rated Crosman Quest 1000 for 99$

I have a .22 Benjamin Trail NP ( non PAL version)- it works very well, came with 3-9x scope. Couple of hundred, on sale at CT. Originally the trigger absolutely sucked.I machined a hollow metal cylinder to reduce the massive take up and the trigger is now usable. I think some guys use a metric washer available at hobby stores for this purpose. It took quite a while for the accuracy to settle in, still not great ( OK for a airgun I guess). The piston is quite a bit nicer to shoot than a spring. Overall I like the gun, but I think I expected a little more in the accuracy department.

I have had great success with the stoeger X10 in .177. very accurate with crosman hollow points. Head shots only on marmots.

Hunting isn't cheap, quick, or easy. Might be the wrong sport fo you if those are requirements.
