Obviously the story in question is fake but I can't help but wonder how far their new filtering system will go?

Google says it will crack down on fake news sites

I saw this too, probably all sites that they don't own or agree with will be deemed fake.

I notice the comments are closed.

So does this mean that Google is also going to revamp their predictive searches?
Like when you type in 'Hillary Clinton is' it will now suggest 'liar, evil or antichrist' rather than 'winning'?

So does that mean an end to the CBC on the internet?

I wonder if google will censor results like
- Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
- I wonder if they think Daily Wire (slightly conservative) and Young Turks (slightly liberal) are fake news.
- Media Matters, funded by Soros
- armedwithreason.com
- that website that I can't remember the name of, that was good and fact checked the first couple months, then went gun-control nuts

John Oliver reported that 38% of Trump stories were false, and 19% of Hillary stories were false. I think those were just Facebook though.

It's interesting that Google is going to try their hand at fact checking -- since newspapers seem to have abandoned that role, and no one else is currently willing to pay for it.

My querying thoughtline is - if Google's motto is `do no evil`... isn't this dipping a toe across the line? People need to learn to think, to discern fact from fiction and how to discern a bull roar from bull crap[fart]. Moderating it for them just makes them further complacent, lazy, and more susceptible to sheeple-indoctrination, IMO.

...or maybe the better question is...is that still Google's motto?

I wonder if this is anything like what's going on with Facebook.
I Saw a headline (but did not read the article) that some FB staff are angry about fake news on their site and that it likely swayed the election.
Or is THAT a fake story?

The left wing msm doesn't like anything that doesn't go along with THEIR version of the news.....censorship is just one of the tools in their box of lies.

When I type "Hillary Clinton em" into google search I get:
email address
email pdf
emails syria
emails reddit
Nothing about email SCANDAL or FBI investigation. That is odd or not ;)

Since Obama gave ICANN to the UN, global corporate censorship is in play. The loose ends are being cleaned up. Anything anti establishment will be considered hate speech as well as talks about race/religion/politics. Youtube/Facebook and such will use the "de-monitization" policy to coerce people into promoting their agendas or be cut off from money pool. And since most are useless greedy pieces of sh*t, they will conform and any dissension will be eliminated......

Dude you are waaaay behind the times. Google quietly abandoned "Don't be Evil" as a slogan years ago, in 2011 or something, and they have massively ramped up the personal data mining especially on Android. Their new slogan should be something like "You don't deserve any privacy, and if you want it, you are probably a bad person". If you care about your personal information you will keep your google footprint to an absolute minimum.

...Young Turks (slightly liberal)...

Slightly?

More like drum-beating, effigy-burning, Kool-Aid-drinking, FULL-ON WEALTH-DISTRIBUTING PROGRESSIVES.

Censorship hurt Twitter pretty bad, and it'll do the same to Google. I'm still waiting for them to face an anti-trust breakup like Rockefeller went through.

So....if you were to google Justin's speeches, it would all be blacked out?

Or is lying and dancing around the topic and being false, disingenuous, ie fake, not the same thing as reporting it to be lying disingenuous doublespeak?

You'll be waiting a long time. Google is in the software business they don't have a monopoly, there are plenty of search engines, webmail, video streaming, online apps and services that people could use they just choose not too. If they were to face any real scrutiny it would be the android platform where they obviously could always point to apple. I would say that corporations have also gotten a lot better and become more subtle at manipulating congress since Rockefeller's day.

I'm more interested in what's going to happen with the Time-Warner merger sale.

There's too much information and not enough people. They will have to employ some really good AI. Even with that, they won't win. They may do some damage and then damage control. But they're big, not omnipotent.

Screw google! It sucks! Google can go to hell and stay there! Google is evil incarnate and have sex with hillary, nancy pelosi, diane feinstein and climate barbie!!

See if they filter that.
