View Full Version : Minor tech tip-Weaver bases

Maybe not even a "tech" tip...but since the minimum wager at Cabella's had no clue I figured some of you might not either :p

I like weaver bases. Simple, strong, effective. I like steel Burris rings too but that's beside the point...

...anyway, have you ever tried to get Weaver bases for a stainless iron only to discover they don't have them?

Or they make them but are out of stock everywhere?

I've been in both situations and have a remedy.

Drain cleaner will remove the black from a black Weaver base or rail leaving you the shiny silver base you desire.

It only takes 15-20 minutes.

Make sure you rinse it well with water.

Don't forget about it or you will have to buy another one.

I knew about using oven cleaner as a stripper, never thought about using it on bases, just stocks and actions. Thanks BR!

Those look sharp, just enough difference to give it a bit of contrast.
