This year, I hope to go hunting with a borrowed old Browning recurve. I've been hard at work, getting arrows, tuning, tuning and more tuning. I made my first batch of wood arrows and in the midst of tuning when somehow my string started fraying. I reckon it got cut on something. So...ordered a nice one off ebay and waiting for it to arrive. Canada Post seems slower these days.

40 lbs, barebow, Sitka Spruce wood arrows with either 165 Gr Zwickey No Mercy's or 125 Gr Steelforce Phatheads...depending on the state of tune, of course.

Chek-Mate bows

Long bow - carbon backing with reflex design, 50lbs @ 28
Recurve - take down, generic riser, Chek-Mate limbs, 46lbs @28

I switch between glove and tab, but ten to prefer a tab - enjoy helix arrows with heavier spine and grain. Meant has hunting rigs, but only get used for targets :/

My primary and backup bows are:
2013 Hoyt Pro Comp Elite
2008 Mathews Apex 7

I have CBE sights on both, with APEX housings, and Feather Visions 4x lenses. Also use Fusion stabilizers. Shooting Easton X7 Eclipse arrows for indoors, and X10's outdoors.

I also have a Rytera Alien Nemesis, with whatever I have lying around bolted to it.

Oneida Aeroforce X80. yeah yeah, its an older model, it doesn't shoot at smoking hot speeds compared to newer bows....it has a bit of heft to it and isn't exacly for lightweights on the muscles...BUT...it is one of the smoothest drawing bows, extremely accurate, and it has a unique shape/design to it that makes people stop and ask "what kind of bow is that"?

I keep meaning to snap a photo....I shoot a several year old Darton 3000(I think?). Just a hair over 60 lb draw weight, whisker biscuit, five pin LED sight, pretty standard stuff. I still haven't schwacked a deer with it, though with a one deer limit the last couple years I've been treating archery as scouting season. Managed to get less than ten yards from some does and fawns a couple times and came to full draw just to see if I could do it without spooking them, but thus far it's only nailed a coyote at a measured 55 yards. Tipping the Easton's with Grim Reaper expandables, though I'm probably switching everything out to Slick Tricks for simplicity's sake this fall.

Still shooting my High Country Safari with Easton aluminum 2315's at 68lbs, can't remember what broad heads. Bought it in the mid 90's. I've been thinking for a few years it would be nice to get it restrung but don't know of anyone local doing it anymore. Have to admit the new ones are pretty slick but don't see any reason to spend a pile of money on something to replace one that works fine. I'm pretty much out of arrows though, can't afford to wreck anymore

My Safari has run through a pile of animals since I bought it. 2317's with Bear Razors @ 82#.
I got the Legacy for a song otherwise the Safari would still be #1.

I have an old Barnett Commando that my non bow shooting buddies used to use when I was at my bow range daily.

One pal in particular, who had never shot anything but his mouth off, mastered it in short order as well...

OK city boy...stand here, put the dot there, thumb the safety, pull the trigger. :)

Time to revive this thread.

2018 PSE Stinger Extreme RTS Canadian Edition (black Skullworks 2 w/ red accessories, nothing special, but you won't get it at Cabela's)
Came in the box with:

AMP Micro 5-pin sight
Phantom drop away rest
Mongoose peep (since swapped out for a tube peep, my string kept twisting, and this was the least expensive option)
Spire stabilizer
Raven quiver
and a neoprene sling.

Draw is 29.5" @ 60lbs

I'm shooting Carbon Express Adrenaline 350 spine 31" arrows with Rage broadheads and CX Launchpad illuminated nocks, letting them loose with a Trufire Smoke Extreme release. I'm running the longer arrows because my draw length was originally 30", but I was using a borrowed release at the time. I'll cut them down over the winter (probably going to upgrade to nicer arrows too.)

BiL already offered a deal on the Hoyt he picked up early this year because "he doesn't like it as much as he thought he would" so I might upgrade sooner over later. We'll see if and when the tags get filled.

I was given a bow about 5 years ago, and I thought I would widen my hunting season a little.
I shot an arrow into the side of a shed the day I got it, and haven't drawn it since.
One of these days I'll fit in some practice.

You should. Ammo is actually pretty cheap in the big picture sense, provided you're not losing arrows in the bush.
