Former astronaut Julie Payette will be the Queen's new representative in Canada, CBC News*has confirmed.
The 53-year-old Montrealer, who speaks six languages, will be named the 29th governor general, a position that comes with a $290,660 annual salary and an official residence at Rideau Hall.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will make the announcement Thursday.
CBC News caught up with Payette at a downtown Ottawa hotel before a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the news.
"Oh my goodness, you know a lot more than I do," Payette told the CBC's Katie Simpson, before walking past without further comment.

Who's living in Rideau Hall now?
I'm not up on the current Liberal House Swapping.

One would hop the GG's office is staffed with several constitutional experts.

Personally I find it more interesting she's married to a Lockheed Martin test pilot, and Trudeau is doing everything he can to not buy Lockheed Martin fighter jets

Smart woman. The Prime Moron's company is going to be painful for her.

Maybe not that smart, from my perspective you are judged by the company you keep.

Taking the GG post is a risky gig. I would not want to be known as one of Trudeau's 'space cadets'.

Then I'm a violent druggie with a dozen bastards wandering the country.

Some of us just try to be patient and help where we can.

Space Station, Earth Orbit

The soon-to-be Governor General only had to visit space twice to persuade local man Walter Alfons that she was selected for the honour based on merit.

Alfons, who has questioned nearly every female government appointment and hire for the past two decades, took a liking to Julie Payette’s experience and education which is comparable to almost no other human being on this planet.

“She’s a good candidate for the job,” said Alfons who had previously doubted the merits of the three previous female Governor Generals and most female cabinet ministers calling them “quota-fillers.”

And it only took a master’s degree in engineering, knowing six languages, playing classical piano with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, being a mother, and maneuvering a space shuttle payload into the International Space Station to convince the man that Payette has what it takes to be the Queen’s symbolic representative in Canada.

“But I find David Johnston was a little more qualified,” added Alfons.

i'm happy she get the recognition she deserves , a super intelligent human being who has been my hero back in the days of the space shuttle journey, which i was fascinated by .

however, i'm ashamed she accepted the duty offered by the f**k*** turd GVT. she might regret this post down the road, not sure she realize how of a giant nation wide scam the trudo GVT really is, and from now on Julie will be identified as a part of it since she's been appointed by the low class garbagery that are the liberals.

the eternal debate as why someone who has no accointance with the queen actually represent the queen and why we need someone here to represent the commonwealth queen since canadians has nothing to scrubb with commonwealth and its bunch of subdoed people slave of their GVT...

Considering that Canadian citizens with English ancestry will soon to be in the single digit percentage, the Queen and the rest of the monarchy will become quite redundant.
And with the wave of refugees(immigrants) coming in, even politically incorrect. I'm sure Justin has no use for them.
