http://www.qpbriefing.com/2017/07/31/half-of-torontonians-would-vote-pc-in-the-next-election-new-poll-suggests/

Roughly half of voters in Toronto — a traditional Liberal stronghold – would cast ballots for the Tories with less than a year to go before Ontarians head to the polls, according to a new public-opinion survey.
Among decided and leaning voters, 49 per cent said they would vote for the Progressive Conservatives if the next election – scheduled for June 7, 2018 – were held today, while 31 per cent would support the Grits. Fifteen per cent said they would opt for the New Democrats and 5 per cent would pick the Green Party.
That’s the upshot from a Mainstreet Research poll provided exclusively to QP Briefing Monday. Pollsters surveyed 2,000 Torontonians on July 9 and July 10 via landlines and cellphones, and the poll is considered accurate within 2.19 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

Should note, Mainstreet Research

a) Is run by a Liberal

b) Were the first to detect the shift to the Trudeau Liberals in the 2015 election and were also first to predict a Trudeau majority.

Does this mean an NDP minority government in Ontario?
Soon to be followed by a coalition of PC and Liberal giving non-confidence, to restore Wynne to power?

Or am I being pessimistic.

Go sit in the corner and think about what you've just done.

Hopefully it means a PC majority, NDP official opposition, and the Liberals in third without official party status.

it means a PC majority

What about the tradition of Ontario having the opposite government as the feds. If Ontario goes PC, does Federal stay Liberal?

The GTA must fall. The liberals will do anything to prevent that. They will attempt to buy off the unions (again). Maybe dump millions into the TTC. Electricity rebates for Toronto scum suckers. Import more 'refugees' and allow the dead to vote as well. The libs gravy train is going full Cassandra Crossing and hopefully there will be no survivors.

Well, Ontario has a Liberal provincial government and voted Liberal federally in 2015, so I'd say that old nugget is in the trash.

Right along side you can't win a majority federally without Quebec.

Common sense would dictate that the next election should be a blood bath for the liberals. Add public servants and unions into the mix, and that theory goes right out the window. Here's hoping...but Ontario not voting left is NEVER something to bet the farm on.

Except for Stephen Harper in 2011. 5 seats in Quebec, majority government.

I wouldn't count the LIberals out. They have a whole year to buy the election, so many GTA voters are morons brainwashed by the Toronto Star, and Patrick Brown has been uninspiring to say the least, though he seems to be an effective fundraiser.

I am curious to know how the candidate selection process is going for the Ontario PCs. If they were picking up good candidates to run in ridings they don't currently control, I would be encouraged.

this phenom (!!!) is present in a much greater way in montreal, while the same story and tendency is occuring in most big cities ; city dwellers are socially raised within some kind of fonctionnaries's guidelines requiem which among other makes you think you know much much better than rurals living a life hidden under a rock resisting from having to face the edonist (!!) lifestyle of a big city where everyone is sneaking on everyone's life .

we even have an extreme left party edging on social communism ( quebec solidaire ) who scores some seats , but only in montreal .... if they hadn't their champagne socialists base made out of unions activists and SJW's mainly , they wouldn't even exist.
