Good afternoon Gun Owners of Canada,

We've gotten three different variant of Dominion Arms DA35 9mm pistols! Just like the original Hi Powers these have checkered wood grips, low profile controls, the military style round hammers, magazine disconnecter, and they retain your magazine on release.

Nice. Cleaner than the Canucks. It'd be nice to know whether there's an LPA sight that would fit the rear.

Wish they would do away with the idiot mag safety; That's the reason the mags won't drop free - real HP mags have a spring assist to kick them out past the idiot safety. These ones likely do not.

1: Do these have the humped barrel that doesn't feed HP's?

2: What specific HP type did they copy? Pre-war FN, post-war FN, Inglis, FEG, etc?

3: Are these investment cast or forged frames?

4: Will they have spec parts commonality with (answer to question 2 guns/components)

The magazine disconnect is a safety feature that is still made in modern firearms like the S*W M&P9 for Police and Military use, as the pistol can be rendered safe quickly by dropping the magazine. Some police departments absolutely require that for their duty issue pistols. I'm not a fan of it for range shooting, as it just makes it hard to drop the hammer after showing clear.

They also didn't all have that spring, since the tactical doctrine of the day for some was to retain the magazine empty or not (hard to reload your magazine from your rucksack if you'd lost all your magazines etc). Shooting on the clock is definitely not as well served by the magazine not falling clear, but if you are looking for the old time set up and not a competition shooter this might work.

Thanks

Good morning,

I don't have the answers to those questions, but will happily see what I can find out.

Thanks
