When I seen the cover (pictured above) I was quite excited. Last time my aunt bought me a book it was a VERY nice copy of The Art of War. So I started reading it and liked the book... until I got to the end....

A Healthy Future?

As the twentieth century draws to a close, the days of the handgun as a military weapon seem to be numbered, though we would probably do well to remember that no less a soldier than Wellington himself suggested the same thing 150 years ago. Equally, as a non-military weapon, it seems to have taken a new lease of life as the restraining bonds of society weaken and man's readiness to harm, maim, and kill his fellows comes to the fore again.

Combine the two, and we can perhaps begin to perceive a very good reason for banning the manufacture of handguns entirely, no matter how unpopular such a move might be in certain circles.

It is impossible to separate the purpose from the object. Guns are intended to wound or to kill and in the wrong hands they are widely abused for this purpose: they have no real other purpose.

Handguns, which have only very limited use value as hunting weapons, have no other role than to wound or kill our fellow human beings.

No. It's a pretty decent book otherwise! The illustrations are nice as well. Here's an example:

I have a feeling some anti-gun editor snuck that in there just before printing, haha, why would anyone write a book about firearms and then toss that in at the end?
