Cleaning out personal belongings from a deceased relative and came across this. I think it's probably an artillery shell projectile that's inert but figured it wouldn't hurt to run it by some subject matter experts (that's you folks) to see if anybody recognizes it and can confirm before I monkey with it.
It's about 8" long and maybe 5 or 10 lbs. Any thoughts?

Well the shape is similar shape to a Russian 122mm shrapnel shell. But that only had 1 driving band, not 2.

Definitely artillery, and it’s been fired, the rifling has cut the copper driving bands at the bottom. No idea if it’s a practise round or what.

Okay thanks, so unlikely to have powder or anything inside of it that could go boom if I move it around? Or is that a possibility?

No powder and there is no fuse so you're ok.
What is the diameter of the projectile?
