I picked up this receiver from Trade Ex, and it was in great shape, other than the finish was pretty much gone.
Looking forward to building something out of this one.

A short bath in some Manganese Phosphate, and voila!

You should probably hold off on spending any more money until we find out what Junior is up to regarding semi-auto's. Reports are that Blair wants to ban all semi-auto's. Junior says "military style" assault rifles. There being no such thing makes no difference.

Buy everything you can find. That commie bastard Blair will never find whats out there. Love the low numbers. Danish contract Garand pattern rifles had little or no use other than parades or drills. Make good decoy anchors I've been told. ;)

My is like 4343 or something like that, two repeating numbers which is sort of neat.
Who has 666?!

I may have a couple of them receivers stashed away. Now I just need to figure out how to make them and some parts into a rifle. What kind of tools does a guy need to build a few garands?

Nice job. How hot do you get your mix up to before immersing the parts?

I keep it between 190 and 200F. 15 minutes is what they recommend, but i usually wait until its done reacting, and give it 5 more minutes.

Well, you need an action wrench, a barrel vise, and 2 precision angle guages. That's about it other than allen wrenches, and pin punches.

You should probably go upstairs and get your momma to make you a nice sammy for lunch and leave the big boy talk to, well, the big boys and mind your business, if the man wants to buy a piece of history, who gives a crap?

It's quite interesting to watch that transformation. A few hundred years ago they would have burned you as a witch.

Now they will just burn you as a gun owner.

Was just interwebzing with a buddy. He just bought a couple of Breda's at a auction sale. One of them was number 667. I should be seeing it here soon for it's refinishing. ;)

You are correct though, the fun is resurrecting those Italian/Danes and imagining liberals heads exploding whenever another one goes 'ping'.

I had to jump in...I never see any of your completed projects appear in the "for sale" forum, and my requests to be adopted have fallen on deaf ears lol.

I have four children and would put them up "for sale" before my Garands. ;)
