Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and HBO are set to re-team on a third WWII mini-series, this time revolving around the Air Force.

The power-house producers previously had success with Band of Brothers in 2001 and The Pacific in 2010.

The source material this time around will be Donald L. Miller’s non-fiction book Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the War Against Nazi Germany.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series "will explore the aerial wars through the eyes of the enlisted men of the Eighth Airforce, known as the men of the Mighty Eighth.”

Spielberg and Hanks will produce alongside Gary Goetzman, although there’s no word on a start date as the show is in the very early stages of development.

Tschhh. I will watch it. Definitely.

But I have to shudder at the idea of doing a Dresden episode.

Miller's book isn't just about the Bomber crews. He also delves into the civilians side of the war. Civilians watching their city being bombed into oblivion. I wonder if they will take this into account in the series or just stick with the bomber crews.

Hard to ignore it. The Eighth was involved in Dresden, and it was a big deal in Germany for a long time.

I think they'll have to address the civilian side. Anything less would have someone screaming about "white washing"

Yeah but I don't want an entire episode of whatever following a family around... might sound callus but that is not what anyone wants to watch....

I was MAD that the DVD box set didn't have "Paint it Black" as the theme song anymore....
