I've planned to attend my first 3 gun match. I'm in the need of mag pouches for the ten round short lar mags. What do you use and where did you get them?

I'm in the same boat although if your looking for a local shop, it'll probably depend on where you are....

So I had a talk with one of our mods the other day about this exact problem.

I would suggest trying the following thing. Look at grenade pouches, generally speaking they are short and wide, possibly fitting 2 LAR mags in them.

Although I have not tried it myself, the math of the size and height seems to work.

Oh! Oh! I have the perfect solution for this. Let me see if I can find a picture . . .

Okay so its a terrible picture. But I use a Tactical Tailor small gear pouch. Its dimensions are just about perfect for a LAR ten rounder with a ranger plate installed. It can be snapped or velcroed shut and doesn't rattle around too much. These came with my MAV vest I used back in the day, and they're pretty much the only tactical tailor thing I still use. Actually their big gear pouches did become carrying bags on my bike . . . Anyway, you can see it's the tan pouch on my belt pretty much dead center of my back in this picture:

For 3 gun or any type of competion not conflict use I recomend FastMag.

With my vest, I had set up styrofoam blocks wrapped in duct tape to fit in the bottom of my pouches. I ended up getting extensions for the mag body that allowed be to grab them from a standard pouch and use them to mono-pod the rifle from prone. That last feature MAY be useful for 3 gun, depending on the stage set up.

Fast mags.
Can be worn on the belt or molle'd to gear/vest. Can be doubled up(hell, tripled if you want) in depth for space savings on the belt. They work well with the short LAR mag as is if you have those looped base plates, or just fine with the couplers that connect them end to end.
Excellent security for the mag, yet faster than any pouch and far more modular than kydex.

Have any of you tried blue force ten speed mag pouches? They are great. You need a dump pouch with them but taking them out is very quick.
