Guess what? I'm new.

Last year I moved to work elsewhere in the province (Quebec).
And what do I find, 3/4 km from my house,
a club with indoor and outdoor firing stands, etc...

Excellent, working from home in the fields, with nothing around, I needed to move out of my house and meet local people; it was perfect.
I enjoyed firing with the pilots at 25 and 50 meters with the automatic pistol in the French Air Force (18 months there).
And life happens, and Trudeau happens (not a conservative, but I disagreed with the reason for the new law and that it would have any effect), but we are not here for that.

The good thing about the situation is that I don't have to decide on the one to buy first, Glock 9mm, 1911 9mm, or Fn57.

I'm thinking now to still get my license. And spend some time doing some precision shooting,
starting a 50-yard,
getting consistent,
then going to the next target.

Three hundred yards / 270 meters. Maximum.
as a starter, I was thinking
22LR (for the price of bullets ?)
with a CZ457 but not stock.
Scope and mount? No idea haven't checked the subject yet.
A better barrel (I want to have a good starter that can follow me until a point, I don't want to change my riffle completely because I changed a part during my "training")
Surely chassis?
Trigger ?
Tripod.

Any idea is welcomed, you can argue against my caliber, rifle choice.
Or have a part or multiple suggestions;
I want a good part, not the best of the best;
I may want to spend more on the scope as it's reusable.

I'm new in riffle (if you don't count the air pellet I used to fire at my grandfather's house ;p)

I'm here to say hello, and to learn from you.

Welcome to the GOC forums. I was a FAL kinda guy till things really went squirrely. Now it's old Garand style rifles. Beretta 92's and Smith & Wesson wheelguns. Enjoy your time here and others will soon let you know about precision shooting and not so much suppressive firepower.

YEs everyone starts with a bolt 22LR
Best to go to a gun show and purchase 1 from there once you got your PAL
Scope is definitely the way to go and blow money on rounds and trigger time!
Once you start getting conferrable then upgrade to more larger powered rounds.
Remeber 1 thing...
Aim Small, Shoot Small
By doing this the chances of keeping it in the 10 ring increases and speed will come with this overtime. Don't rush anything and take your time. As even the smallest flinch can mean the difference between hitting what you are aiming at to missing the entire target.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!
Welcome To The Community :shoot2::Beer time:

Thanks a lot; hum didn't think about the gun show; good tip because I don't think I have a gunshop near me; I was going the online way to buy my gun after my PAL.

I need to check with my local fire range; I think I need to be a member of my PAL anyway; they may a training for the PAL.

I can still get there to rent and shoot a pistol if I want.

Welcome!

It's good to meet someone from Quebec!

A lot of us are from Western Canada (and a few peppered around the country).

I'm not sure who else here is from Quebec...

I'd like to apologize in advance for any Quebec bashing that goes on... it's directed to the rabid Montreal anti-gun elites who hate everyone who isn't like them.

Thanks, wait until they learn I was born in Paris, so French, and moved to Montreal and then Sherbrooke.
But I have no problem with guns (any type almost) at the range or hunting.
That's why I was "hurt" by the law because I couldn't spend some time at the range shooting at target but with a gun.
But I think I will enjoy the rifle; different but still enjoyable, I guess.

And I looked at a gun show in QC in 2023; I'm going to search gold. I have more chance of success, it seems.
