Anyone ever put a Magpul PRS on a Ruger SR-22?

I'm considering either, rebuilding my Ruger SR-22 or buying a second one and setting it up as a "long range" rifle. Magpul PRS, PSG1 style grip, 20 inch barrel... that sort of thing. Anyone do anything like this before?

Thanks guys!

Wouldn't see why it won't work and would defiantly be interested in the result.
Are you going to get a timney trigger and a kidd bolt too?

It would look good with a 20" barrel I bet.

I used to have a UBR on one of my builds and it has the same proprietary extension tube to mount the stock on as the PRS.

I don't see why it wouldn't work either.

I'd love a timney trigger and a kidd bolt, but those wouldn't be right away.

I'd really like to find a picture before I commit to a build.

Well, I've committed to the build. Grip is installed. PRS is in the mail and should be here later this week. I hope to post some pictures before the long weekend.

My next item is the barrel. I need some input on barrels. Right now I'm leaning towards either a KIDD, McGowen, or Shillen, simply because these seem to be the easiest to find. I'm not sold on the $300 bill that its going to take to get one of these to my door. How are the butler creek barrels for accuracy? I'd consider Dlask, but I don't see anything long enough on his site.

Once the barrel is on, it becomes shootable. A Timney or KIDD trigger would be the next upgrade item, but I also need some optics on it.

For the trigger, have you made any improvements at all to it? Such as: New hammer, stone the contact surfaces, lighten the trigger return spring(or replace it with a twisted up piece of wire in the trigger housing) drill an undersized hole in the trigger to screw in an overtravel stop, trigger group shims (.005? I forget.)...this stuff costs very little and helps the stock trigger a lot....

I haven't touched the trigger at all. It hadn't crossed my mind to start monkeying with it, but it is something I should look into for sure.

Oh yeah, its here and it looks swell! Although it does confirm the need for a longer barrel (stainless fluted of course) and some different optics. A bipod is definitely in the future too.

That is the best looking sr-22 ive ever seen but ya you need a longer barrel and a scope with a big sun shade on it.

Nicely done! Who's the manufacturer of the handguard?

Just a factory handguard with the Dlask rail set.

I like it! That PRS is a pretty bad arse stock. Nice grip too, looks comfy. Is this to be your multiple gopher getter?

Ask Dlask for there weaver bi-pod they have in there cabinet and a long fluted barrel with a 1-8 optic would sure make this rig sing JustBen ;)
Thanks for the post back and she's a beaut ;)

I'm definitely impressed with the PRS/grip combo. But it did set me back more than I care to admit for a rimfire. The purpose of this rig is to do gophers, as well as general "long range" plinking. I'd like to be able to reliably hit targets out to 200 yards with it. Its going to take some serious work to get there though.

I just did a volquartsen trigger, sear, hammer, buffer on my SR. I thought it was heavy (8lb.) but it broke clean.
the new set up is silky smooth and breaks like glass. Worthwhile
