View Full Version : VZ 52/57

Just got my VZ 52/57 back together so I thought i would share some quick pictures I took of it. The pics aren't the greatest (taken with a playbook) but I try to get some better ones up soon. I bought it at a gun show last year and it had a terrible paint job done to it. It was missing the bayonet and sling. I tore it apart a few weeks ago and spent 2 weeks working on the stock. From stripping the paint, to heating it in an industrial oven to pull the oil and cosmoline out, to the tru oil finish. I had to replace the upper hand guard band. While it was apart my girlfriend had the overwhelming urge to "tidy" up my work bench and it got "misplaced". Thats the last time that will happen. I fabricated one out of stainless and polished it to a mirror finish. The rifle is in great shape and just looks 100 times better. I should have gotten before and after pics. Hope you enjoy.

Well done. Sharp looking piece of firepower.

That looks great! I always like seeing the bolt similarities between these and the Vz58s.

How does she shoot?

Thanks a lot guys. It shoots very well. I haven't put a ton of rounds through it but it eats everything I put in it with no issues. I try to avoid corrosive ammo though. Ejection is forward and to the left around the 10-11 o'clock position. A little different compared to the vz 58 which is like a rocket straight up. It is fairly accurate for being 7.62x39 and having a chrome lined barrel. The first shot I took with it I put a hole in a pint bottle dead centre at 75m. The piston system in this rifle is awesome, keeps the rifle fairly clean even running mfs and norinco. I am going out to the range tomorrow to spend some much needed quality time with her so I can see the accuracy of this thing at distance.

Looks great, nice work. Personally, I find the vz52 to be an ugly design, but it's beautiful in its ugliness... sort of like a C96.

I want one now!
