I just tried the site using a web based VPN and set the location to Netherlands.Site speed was normal! Unfortunately I wasn't able to test if the editor functions worked properly as I did not want to log in via some random VPN site I Googled.So the location based idea may have some merit.

Came here to report this issue too. Thought it was an issue on my end so ran speed tests etc... It seems I'm not the only one experiencing this.
