    HTTPS

Certificates aren’t expensive. Even a “high end” cert is going to be less than $200 per year. The real “cost” is processing power on the server end as web servers “work harder” when encrypting everything. But that shouldn’t be a concern these days as it would have been 10 years ago. Can't see imbedded videos

Yes I agree. 7 is better than 8 and 8.1 by a mile. Go straight to 10 or stay on 7. Though commercial support for 7 is (or has?) ending. Either way definitely move to FireFox. Don’t think you will regret it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    Can't see imbedded videos

I never liked any version of IE though they did get successively better with standards compliance. Still they never achieved that until 10. Edge is a decent browser. I use it daily. I don't have a modern Mac so I don't know how Safari has kept up. I avoid Chrome due to Google being slimy...

    Can't see imbedded videos

I have to ask if you're still using IE what operating system are you using? MS has discontinued IE. Its successor is called Edge.

    Search Refresh

Those are really fast. I remember when I posted the LGR that La Presse had it was on a PostgreSQL database. Search wasn't slow but it wasn't fast. Then someone (sorry, can't remember your name if you're still here) did the same but used Lucene (or SOLR) and it was near instant. See...

    Search Refresh

Yes but it is done at the database level (concurrent with the text of the posts themselves) with indexed fields as opposed to some "web crawler" that creates a separate database or table of indexed data.

Is there even an indexing? Doesn't it just directly search the database?

    Mobile Style for GOC

Nice Z10! That was my first BB phone. Loved it. I just "came back" to BB after about a year away. I've got an iPhone but they are boring. So I bought a Q10 and just ordered a Z30 online today. I'll use the Q10 as my main phone and use the Z30 for those times when I'm sitting in the cold hockey...

    Mobile Style for GOC

I said it works fine on tablets. As for BlackBerry watcha got? I'm a BB fanboy. Using a Q10 to type this.

    Mobile Style for GOC

It would be great if GOC added a user selectable mobile style (like CGN has). While I am a Tapatalk user, it is not available on all platforms and they seem to go through cycles where they ruin the app, users complain, then they change it back to how it was. They're in the "ruining it" phase...

    PAL Licensing help.

The problem with YouTube is viewing the "right" videos. There are many many horrible examples of how to use firearms on YouTube. But there are also some excellent examples. If someone is interested in seeing a wide variety of arms I'd recommend Hickok45 and Forgotten Weapons. For excellence...

With Few Gun Laws, New Hampshire Is Safer Than Canada

Again NNTW, correlation does not equal causation. In the US the number of firearms owned has been growing significantly the past 20 years. At the same time the homicide rate, homicide by firearms, violent crimes with firearms have all been going down...

With Few Gun Laws, New Hampshire Is Safer Than Canada

Not entirely sure how the TPD conducted it, but it is essentially stop and frisk or similar. It is how they were able to literally get guns off the streets as the thugs we less likely to be carrying out in public due to the risk of being carded. EDIT: I really need to read through threads when...

With Few Gun Laws, New Hampshire Is Safer Than Canada

And there wasn't a pressing gun problem in Canada with the way things were either. Also Canada's homicide rate (as well as most Western nations) has been falling well before most gun control measures were legislated and implemented. Where there is a problem is in Toronto where "carding" has...
