I applied for my renewal of my PAL/RPAL on September 14. I hadn't bothered to check the status of my renewal for the next few days assuming it would take a while to process. Before I had even bothered checking the status of the renewal is had shown up in my mail having been issued September 24.

I don't think there is any reason for you to bring the topic up. As long as you are responsible with your gun ownership and use reasonable discretion there is no reason for your gun ownership or interest to be anyone else's business (unless you want it to be). It has never been an issue for me...
